These are a few basic rules you must follow in order to stay on this website. Breaking them can and will result in suspension/bans.
1. Do not post emails/msn/aim outside the PM system. This is probably what we suspend most users for. This is not like other trading sites, we run a strict set of rules and adhering to them will lower scam rates considerably. Your trade should ask users to Private message users with their contact info. Scammers work by anonymity, forcing them into giving you their contact information is a deterrant as when scammed, they have revealed their email address and it links the msn conversation screenshots to their Realpoor account allowing us to swiftly ban them.
We encourage users to conduct all trades via PM system, however we are aware the majority would rather sacrifice safety for speed. So please, make your choice.
tl;dr - Ask for their email/msn/aim via PM before giving them yours.
2. When scammed, screenshot the msn/aim conversation and post it in Hall of Shame. We do not accept walls of text as evidence to ban someone, we only accept screenshots. Press [Print Screen], then open MS Paint and paste it in, save it. Repeat if needed for long conversations. Then upload to www.imageshack.us and post it as evidence in the Hall of Shame section along with a screenshot of the scammer sending you his/her contact information.
tl;dr - screenshot msn conversations even if the trade is successful. It allows us to ban them quickly if the account is recalled.
3. Dont have enough credits to post a trade? You have two options:
A) Buy credits - www.realpoor.com/credits
B) Post constructively nine times to gain the required credits to post a trade. All this was covered in the registration terms, so if you are reading this and thinking "huh, i didn't know that", then please read the rules now - use the link in my signature. By posting constructively i mean adding something useful to the discussions i.e. more than a sentence. Anyone caught credit spamming, examples would be "lol", "hi", "ghfhdshsah", "i agree", "PM'd you" will have their trade cancelled and will be suspended.
Credit Rules (current setup)
3 posts is 1 credits.
1 published article is 6 credits.
5 days from registration is 1 credit.
1 trade with Sold! status is 0 credits.
1 trade with Canceled status is -1 credit.
1 trade costs 3 credits.
To see your credit status, click on the profile link at the top of the site page and scroll to the bottom where your avatar is, your credits will be listed there.
tl;dr - 3 posts = 1 credits, one trade post requires 3 credits. Post more than two sentences, nine times to gain the credits required to post a trade.
4. Stop using Paypal. Really i do mean it. The problem with Paypal is the buyer can recall the money sent as an unauthorised transaction within 90 days. Which means that you sold your account, you received the money, you handed over the account info, then here comes the bad part.
The scammer transfers your characters to a new account (all he/she needs is the accounts last name, never give them this using Paypalol and conduct all transactions through the PM system), then bans the old account using hacks and recalls the moeny transaction. You're first move would be to recall your WoW account, problem is its perma banned and Blizzard will not assist you as you got involved with trading their property. There is nothing you can do about the unauthorised transaction as Paypal does not cover virtual items. This means you lose out on everything, no matter how safe you THINK you are, safety isnt guaranteed with Paypal.
tl;dr - Stop using Paypal to buy & sell. Use alternative methods of payment, do your research on it before jumping in.
