I just got 19 on my Black Mage today and gonna make a WHM for my BLM to sub under when I get my Magicked Skull...

That seems to be a big problem with monks, they have no real role and they can't (/wont?!?) ranged pull or provoke so they're just extra damage and parties are mainly concerned with getting: 2 provokes, 1 whm/1blm 1thf(maybe) and then random_person_01(aka hopefully whm#2 or rdm or paladin)
In Valkurm we didn't really group monks much at all unless they had warrior sub, or sometimes if they had thief sub. Getting spammed with

the fist time i level'd to 30 we had a monk always in our group.. they do pretty respectable damage

as far as I know, we don't get any ranged attacks until 30 or so and the ranged ability. I'm logging in now and changing jobs =X

Using Legionaire's Knuckles right now, and on the Orcish Flamethrowers we were taking, I was only doing about 8-9 a hit. =\
almost 13 now tho

Mmmmmm 50-60 normal hits, 80-90 critical, 150 dmg WS, 70 Jump attacks, and Wyvern does 50-60% of that, oh breath attack too ~.~
