I think there would be rioting, but all the f*****g smokers would be out of breath from lifting up their arms in anger.

I was just thinking this because i'm trying to quit smoking myself.

Good luck with that, Goraz. Don't watch movies where the characters smoke a lot, it'll give you the craving like no other.

In California it's illegal to smoke in any restaurant and in most (like 99% of) bars.

Outside of the big cities where all the intolerant oppressive a******s who voted for the law live, people have responded by just ignoring it and lighting right up anyway.

there would imidiatly be a huge black market that would rival the size of all other illegal drugs combined.

there would be street corner shootings, gang warfare, and innocents hurt.

A new war on cigs would be started, the jails would overflow with users.

childrends usage would increase, as would deaths via taineted cigs

people would smoke more because the quality would go down.

and people on messageboards across the internet will police from the sidelines saying how immoral and dangrous cigarette smokers are, and how they need to be shot.

This isnt what would happen. This is what is going to happen. unfortunetly, it will be too late to say I told you so, not that it matters because most of you would eagerly support it.

Isn't there a way they could keep cigarettes addictive and yet take out the cancer part?

That way, everybody wins.

It's the smoking part that is addictive. If a cigarette was just a straw with air and a mix of nicotine in it I wouldn't smoke at all.

Are you sure? Because if that were the case, wouldn't everyone be smoking the cheapest brand of cigarettes?

I've smoked 305s. I'll never smoke them again. Smoke that shit if you actively want to quit--you will quit.

I honestly dont think the govt could survive the massive clusterfuck that doing something like making cigs would entale.. by the time everyone realized how much of a horrible idea it would really be to late imo.

If smoking were made illegal, it would create a huge black market for cigarettes. All the same issues you have with other illegal drugs would come into play (organized crime, stealing to support habit, smuggling, etc etc).

The only difference between cigarettes and other illegal drug habits is one is legal, other's aren't.

Hence the stupidity and hyprocrisy of the "war on drugs".

I would be the Al Capone of cigarettes.

Importing them from Canada, (or if you will, Iceland...by submarine), and beating my underlings with baseball bats.

Of course, to avoid being arrested for tax evasion, I'll just have to bribe every jury in the courthouse that day, and hire an idiot savant as my account, who keeps the figures in his head.

I will then build a loyal army of smokers, cutting off their supply at the slightest hint treason, using their stark-raving mad mood swings to create chaos in all the local bars and restaurants.

I would oppose making cigarettes illegal on principle but I wouldn't miss the cigarettes at all.
