I got mine from 0 - 40 in 1 day. Started with 40k set aside just for it. Ended up with 38k.
Feel free to ask for whatever points you're having trouble with or whatever. I had fun with it!

Okay, this is sort of a mesh of a lot of different resources and faqs that I used, with a bit of my own touch added.
Cooking 101: Selenar Style. (Points 0 - 3)
Our first item to get our feet wet and skillets used will be San d'Orian Carrot Broth. 4 Carrots sold from the old lady west of the AH in Southern Sando sells the carrots, put 4 of those babies in a water crystal and open up that tradeskill.
Cooking 104: Slice and Dice...(Skill 3 - 11.1)
We now travel home to our new home away from home (Direct stolen quote from the Jeuno Taru, god they own). Sliced Sardines become our new best friend, and the profit is actually really nice if you spent the time to farm the crystals like me. Buy a bunch of Bastore Sardines, put one in a wind crystal and slice away. Sell the finished product back to the Fishing guild (NOT TO VENDORS OMFG) to double your money, oooooh yeah.
Cooking 210: Double Combo! *Killer Instinct Voice* (Skill 11.1 - 20)
Selbina Butter will be your best friend from points 11 - 14, just crank it out as much as you need to to get to those points. Ice crystals are cheap, so that's nice. Ice Crystal, Selbina Milk and rock salt is the combo if memory serves. After 14 use the butter with a potato and a fire crystal to make a baked potato. This isn't a horrible loss, especially if you farmed crystals, and the points move fast through these skill hits.
Cooking 350: Ashwynd Food...errr...I MEAN PET FOOD! (Skill 20 - 25)
Earth Crystal: Dhalmel meat, horo flour, distilled water, bird egg. This recipe is seriously the best, and here's when the money starts rolling in. The trick is to buy the horo flour in jeuno from the goblin shop (gobbo in the back). Now it doesn't stack so you'll either need a mule, a friend or a LOT of space, but my god does it own.
Optional Class - Cooking 405: The Rhetoric of Juice. (Skill 25 - 29)
Now, do you prefer speed or consistancy? Time or Money? I chose time, but that may not be the route for you. Here you can go start making pineapple juice, which really moves your skill level fast, but you take a minor loss, about 50 gil per synth. 2 Kazham Pineapples (cheap in Kazham, 59 a piece) and a water crystal make the juice. The juice is good for WHM's or BLM's looking to kill downtime too, so it serves a couple purposes. If you would rather stick with the profit from Pet food Gamma, go for it. Loser.
Final Exam: Ready sisters? One, Two, Three, DELTA ATTACK! (Skill 29 - 39)
No comparison when it comes to profit and ease when you make Pet Food Delta. Earth Crystal: Rye Flour, Distilled Water, Bird Egg, Land Crab Meat. Buy the meat from the AH, I was buying stacks at 4k gil each and turning a HUGE profit still. My fault mainly for driving the price up on Ragnarok, but your server might be a little better.
After 39 you are now free to make meat mithkabobs, and of the essential juices and boiled crab for your local paladin. You too can turn a huge profit and become well versed in the virtual culinary arts. Happy cooking!

It will ensure most of your synths don't explode and save you a TON of money in the long run. Always always always. I can't stress this enough. This is your extra credit!

Well that depends, do you plan on farming the crystals or not? If yes, then you won't need that much to get started. If not, then getting a good stockpile of cash isn't a bad idea

I used to spend alot of time on RP at work, but I cut all that out. It's pointless. Now I only stop by for a few minutes here and there while I'm checking my email or putzing around with my fantasy hockey team.
