Ok, so I just put together a new PC and didn't turn off that annoying messenger service that pops up those message boxes. So I get one and the url actually interests me (http://attacknyc.com). I go to the site and in addition to the anti-war propaganda, it has instructions on how to turn off that messenger service so that you don't get those messages. So, being the pro-war nut that I am, I do a whois on the url and send the following email to the "contact us" address:
| My Email wrote: | Dear Ms. Xiao,
By sending unsolicited Windows Messenger messages, you are in violation of the “Inbox Privacy Act of 1999” and the “Unsolicited Commercial Electronic Mail Act of 2000”, which requires illegal spammers, such as yourself, to provide a simple method to remove oneself from the spammer’s mailing list. You provided no such method. The only remedy you provide requires disabling personal software that I may wish to use. By hijacking software on my personal computer in such a terrorist fashion, I believe you may also be in violation of several other acts of Congress governing the internet.
I intend to forward the following information to officials at the FCC so that they may review your case and apply the appropriate fines and/or jail time:
Wendy Xiao

Brooklyn, NY 11204
Phone: 917-xxx-xxxx (look it up yourself if you want)
Sincerely,
Eric |

Probably one of those Chinese communist spies trying to subvert our society from within!

How do you turn that stuff off? I get about 3-4 of those pop-ups per day and the last one actually said that if I went to their site, they'd tell me how to turn the messages off. I've tried disabling the systems process that runs the application, but for some reason I can't disable it.
