A very good friend and coworker of mine these past 4 years is getting fired next week. It's been decided, his replacement is getting trained elsewhere as I write, and next friday he gets the news. He won't even get any severance pay as the reasons he's getting axed is 'bitterness and incompetence.'

Now he's got alot of bills like most adults do (apartment, car, insurance, etc.) and barely scrapes by as he's underpaid and lives alone. Should I give him a little heads up? I figure he could use the extra time to find a job, but this isn't really any of my business. (or is it?)

I feel so bad, sometimes snooping and spying leads to such dilemmas Sad

Buy him a " Hacking in 24 Hours " book, and then have him create a virus and put it into you company's accounting database. Everytime a transatction takes place, the virus will deduct fractions of a cent off of each one and put them in a seperate bank account (that he makes)

After a few years, thats a few hundred thousand dollars

Seriously though, tell him

If you tell him, and he does something "unethical" to the company. (deleting information, etc..etc..) the company will likely deduce you gave him the heads up and you'll be out of a job too.

If you do elect to tell him, I would make sure you advise him of that last paragraph. It sucks he's going to be out of a job but don't get yourself in trouble with your company. The job market really isn't that great right now.

Good luck with your decision, it's a difficult one.

He isn't the type to do something unethical to s***w over the comapany, he's a smart guy and has never done anything like that before. In fact, I'm not even sure he could anything short of stealing money, and I know he wouldn't do that. He was put into his current position because he could be trusted, unfortunately he has just gotten extremely weary of dealing with the public. (It's hilarious the things he says and does to some customers lol)

I will tell him, he deserves a break, and if he finds a good job by next week... more power to him. He can quit on the spot instead of getting fired Razz

Two possible outcomes:

Akronn: "dude, you're getting fired."
Friend: "damn"
(later on at boss' office) Friend: "Akronn said I'm getting fired. Die!"
*machine gun fire
(back at Akronn's place) Friend: "Die!"
*machine gun fire

OR

Friend: "They fired me, Akronn, and you knew. Die!"
*machine gun fire

So the options are to die at home or in the office

That way if he goes in with a machine gun...

Also if he kills lots of people you might even get a promotion when you get back... Confused

Anyway just tell ihm but dont hope for a big thank you that kind of stuff hurt but at least youll know inside that you did something right.

Tell him about an hour after you know he already heard the news. This way you're neither betraying the company nor your friend.

"DUDE I just heard some horrible news!"
"Ya I got fired."
"OMG NOOO I was gonna tell you so u could kill them all b4 they fired you! NOoOoOoo god help me I'm too late!"

Win/Win!
