It all sounds the same sir! I don't think when you go to blockbuster they will want you to spell it out! Now if my lack of wanting to spell something correctly has you confused, don't get too dizzy fall back in your chair and start crying.

I actually own Pi on DVD. Thought it was excellent. Probably not a movie everyone can enjoy though.

You have to have basic knowledge to understand it, an unfortunate matter for Finigan.

Aronofski is what Lynch would be if Lynch actually had the remotest incling of talent instead of just being a critically over-hyped fucktard bluffer.
Pi and Requiem are both excellent movies with multi-layer meaning and excellent telling. It's hard to fault either really they are both exceptionlly good pictures.

Eduin

Ah nostalgia....Median sets it off...The father of my children was obsessed with CWO, the triangle on the movie poster with alex coming out with the knife he has that huge covering his calf...in fact that is the whole entire reason I started a conversation with him...Ther eis where my life ended I still love that movie. Read that book it is much more insane.
Requiem for a Dream is a classic. I almost cried real tears for Jennifer Connely at the end. It was badass.

Pi is really out there.. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did requiem. I think Pi tried to do more than it really could in the movie, and over extended itself.

Interestingly, the underground in Glasgow is nicknamed (semi-officially these days) "the clockwork orange".
I don't like any of Kubricks work, to be he is a pretty workmanlike adaptist and nothing more. All his works are translations of very important literary works and perhaps the ignorance of critics to the literary background led to Kubrick being far more regarded than he should be.
I've never seen Barry Lyndon and it has been a *long* time since i saw Dr Strangelove but none of his pictures really stand out in the way a Jackson or Jeunet film grabs me (or an Aranofski). Clockwork Orange is far too dated to be taken seriously these days. In Sci Fi, I've always felt that how well a picture ages is one of the most importnat aspects to its merit (e.g. Star Wars or Aliens). Both Kubrick's Sci Fi look awful now, Clockwork Orange is comical in a modern context.
I'm sure there is *some* merit in Kubrick's work (unlike say Lynch) but it's nowhere near the level he is creditted with.

Eduin

No more so than any well made documentary on social exclusion. It will depend what you are exposed to. However, jsut accepting that Requiem does create that sort of feeling of such a documentary says a lot about Aranofski's ability (and probably a shitload more about what is lacking in modern cinema).

Eduin

Personally, I'm not a huge Kubrik fan. As much or as little as his sci-fi delves into, I find his perception of war and the articulation of such to be amazing. Perchance it was simply my first experiences of the movie, but Full Metal Jacket truly defined what a satirical war flick should include. Being an almost Vonnegut-esque experience of war, working as a means to deconstruct the viewer, it played through exquisitely; playing upon emotions and empathetical feelings - he (they) did an outstanding job of recreating the hell of war. Although, it could never be portrayed withing one's mind without the experience, let alone the silver screen or a leaflet of paper; they attempted to do as such and succeeded. Some may disagree, some may not. "So it goes".

I saw Pi, it was a dumb movie. Requiem was fairly good. but I don't see why they make movies like them, they are purposely meant to make you feel like shit, while there is a time and a place for everything, i don't see why anyone would want to intentionally create that effect. On top of that I just saw 1 hour photo, it's a good movie and all, but I think ignorance can sometimes be better than knowledge.
