I listed a wow account for sale on this site December 20 ,2007 and was contacted by a realpoor member . The member paid through paypal , got all account information , then filed a fraud dispute with paypal. Paypal has reversed that payment now after I spent much of the money and has left me in a negative balance state with a balance of - $300 . The negative balance was closer to -$400 but I had a few ebay auctions listed before the reversal and when payment for thos items was made the sum was taken off the negative balance. I do alot of ebaying but I suppose that will have to end now as I do not belive I should be paying off someone else's scam at my expense.

I hope noone else has this problem as it has put undue stress on myself as a longtime paypal and ebay user who now has to cough up $300 dollars to reinstate my paypal account.

I understand you are frustrated right now. We do our best to stop scammers, but there will always be people trying to scam, not only on this site, but every other trading website. People are starting to move away from using Paypal now due to this way of scamming someone by cancelling the transaction. I have moved this topic to the feedback section and would encourage you to make a report with evidence in the hall of shame so we can investigate this user.

File a dispute back at PayPal, but don't state it was a Virtual Item. Just say, the buyer filed a dispute after you sent him the package.

I tried that approach but paypal insists that if I sent him a package I would have a tracking number to provide verification.

The user has already deleted his realpoor account and has likely opened a new one with a different name. The email account I had for him is no longer valid either so I am left holding the dirty end of the stick.

I like using paypal, but I never knew this existed. If someone was sending me money for an item how could I stop them from withdrawing the money back? Do I ask them to select a direct bank transfer via paypal instead of sending it to straight into my paypal account? Or asoon as I get the money I click " send to bank account " ?

Here is the latest and greatest from my wonderful friends at paypal who treat me as if I am a criminal ........................

Our records show that on Dec. 20, 2007, you received a payment in the

amount of $750.00 via transaction ID 6G859993DV6595549. When you

received the payment it was listed as for a Service and was "Seller

Protection Policy Ineligible" in the Transaction Details. On Dec. 28,

2007, the transaction amount was placed on a Temporary Hold after an

unauthorized account activity claim was recently filed against the

transaction. On Dec. 29, 2007, the funds were returned to their original

funding source.

It is important to note that as outlined in Section 4.5 of our Legal

Agreement regarding the Risk of Reversals, Chargebacks and Claims, when

you receive a payment, you are liable to PayPal for the full amount of

the payment plus any fees if the payment is later invalidated for any

reason. This means that you will be responsible for the amount of the

payment, plus the applicable fees listed in Section 8 of the Agreement

if you lose a Claim or a Chargeback, or if there is a Reversal of the

payment. You agree to allow PayPal to recover any amounts due to PayPal

by debiting your balance. If there are insufficient funds in your

balance to cover your liability, you agree to reimburse PayPal through

other means. If the transaction meets each of the Seller Protection

Policy requirements outlined in Section 11, PayPal will cover the amount

of the Reversal or Chargeback and waive the Chargeback Fee, if

applicable.

This is slightly off-topic although i might aswell mention it.

Paypal sucks. Really it does. Like Myspace, its a fad right now and it isnt that great and theres hardly any security. Noticed a few people are trading with western union now, since you cant freeze transactions. Quote from Completegibberish "Paypal sucks for anything over $50".
