Anything you read on these new ones you can "install yourself" is full of shit. "only 15min and a screwdriver" b****t f*g 4 or so hours later, i can't get the f*g thing figured out f*g extra wires and shit..god damn, no way to find a f*g manual as to see what the fk these extras are..b******t that is all /rant off

How many wires have you got? Is it an electronic thermostat, or mechanical? As I recall (more or less) there can be wires for the heat relay, wires for the air conditioning relay, and wires for the fan. If all you want is heat, and it's not forced air, all you'd use are the heat wires. Can't you look up the model in google and find a manual or something?

I recently did mine. I had some trouble, but i finally fixed it. The whole thing took about 1 hour. My biggest problem was i didn't label the wires before i took off the old one. The white wire from the wall had discolored to the point that it looked yellow so i hooked it to the yellow terminal. I noticed the problem when my heat didn't come on and the air conditioning was fuxed. I examined the board on the old thermostat to see what switched which wires, then i went to the furnace and examined which wires were there.
