....and bought a Game Cube. Got it, a memory card, a controller and Metroid Prime for $140. Not a bad deal i suppose. I will be hooking it up once i get home (Its sitting at my desk at work) and im sure I will be addicted to it once i start heh.

Any good game suggestions. Here are some I am thinking about getting:

Eternal Darkness
F-Zero GP
Zelda: Wind Waker
MGS: Twin Snakes
Viewtiful Joe

What are some other good ones?

I've enjoyed Soul Calibur 2 to no extent. Mario Party 5 is also great, if you're looking at multiplayer games.

I am not a big soul caliber fan (Im more into the Tekken series). I just read some reviews for Mario Party and it doesnt seem like my kind of game, but I appreciate the suggestion.

Is there a classic Mario game for Gamecube (Like Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Mario 64, etc..)?

i liked soul blade Sad

soul calibur 2 is f****d up . . the controls are weird . . especially the thumbstick fighting . . and even without the thumbstick it doesn't feel right . . when playing soul blade i was able to react before i even realized what i was doing . . like some times id end up dodging a round of hits and go like "woah i just dodged that" .. but i cant seem to do it in soul calibur 2

unfortunately soul blade didnt have nearly the cool stuff soul calibur 2 has in it, making soul calibur 2 overall a better game .. but i still like the soul blade controls .

GO TAKKI !

Maxi > Taki :\

And about the dodging and control stick thing...I had no probs with the controls after a while. It's pretty smooth and accurate, better than most fighting games I've played period. Try playing Mortal Kombat: Deadly alliance..it's terrible. :\

Yes and I hated almost every one of them. I was a street fighter fan until Tekken then I have been a hardcore Tekken fan since the first.

my friend modded an xbox...

used xbox from local electronic store: $150
mod chip: $50
a 200 gig seagate hard drive i hear is like $120 (seagate is great for hard drives, only company i truly trust anymore)

so add that together: $320

to get everything set up you need to know how to solder reasonably well

on my friends mod chip there were 6 large connectors you had to solder and one very very small wire you had to solder into the board .. the small wire is the problem, but compared to other soldering jobs it wasnt that bad, and it worked out fine

****** IF YOU f**k UP SOLDERING YOU SUCK AND HAVE TO SELL YOUR BROKEN XBOX *******

DO NOT SOLDER UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOURE DOING ..

Soldering Tips: Work on a table with a soldering iron that is short (not a long ass soldering iron) .. work with clamps where possible and magnifying glasses if necessary .. *** ALWAYS put less solder on than you have to .. putting less you can always put more .. putting too much means you f**k up and your xbox is dead

once its all soldered together you have to flash the bios and stuff, can read up about that online .. maybe modchipsource.com or something

i forget where my friend got his mod chip, prolly modchipsource.com or something

Good stuff: avalaunch launcher software for xbox (copy DVDs directly to hard drive, launch them from hard drive, good interface) ... xbox media player (play divx movies on xbox) ... n64/nintendo/supernintendo/playstation/*ARCADE* emulators .. lots of fun

i dont know all that much about this stuff (setup after soldering, copying games, formating hard drives) but its out there and im sure its not all that hard ..

do not use the new hard drive until you have your modchip working .. if the modchip isnt working, it wont accept the drive ..

uh.. thats about it

oh also it depends a lot on the mod chip you get what you can do ..

my friend got the deluxe one that solders in to the motherboard the way i said it did

there are lots of other types of mod chips, and some are very limited on what you can do ..

i hear theres even a software hack to flash your bios using the game mechassault .. but for now, not seeing it first hand, i wouldnt trust it

I would buy that one if I could find a cheaper used one. I bought Metroid Prime for $17 and Eternal Darkness for $14 both of which rock. The cheapest Wind Waker i could fine was $29.99 in stores or online. I hate doing online auctions because I always lose heh.

You don't need a modchip to "crack" your xbox. There isn't one in mine. Also, it's a *really* good idea to get a hard-drive that isn't 7200 rpm, unless you want to bore out your case and improve cooling. Seen some great melted cases due to hot hard-drives. =)

yeah you can use mechassault to soft-mod it, dont know exactly how to, has to do with the save campaign and instead of saving campaign, saving over your system file
