First of all I realize by these actions I've taken by posting this and using my real AIM and email account information I'll probably get flamed over and over again till the day I finally change my email, but hey It's my choice and I want to offer security to people that haven't been scammed and for the people who have been scammed.
Secondly, I want to apologize to all the people I've scammed in the past, I know apologizing does nothing and the only reason I chose to apologize here is because most of the people I've scammed have come from this exact forum.

How long?: I've been scamming people out of accounts for the past year and half, so I'd say its become more of a hobby for me than anything.
Reasoning: I got scammed out of my account and I just felt like getting back at people...unfortunatly the wrong people were chosen as the targets instead of the people who deserved it.
Why I changed: Well after thinking about it... I figured the best way to get back at the people who scammed me was to help people be more secure about their trades and overall account security.
Now since that's over...
I would like to offer some tips for keeping your account for ANY mmorpg (not just WoW) safe, and I will also go over a few tactics I used to use and many scammers use today.
== Account Safety and Trading Tips (mostly tips) ==
1.) Now the first mistake many account holders make is that they are very desperate, often too desperate, to make good decisions.
- Guys/Girls don't make this mistake it is very costly to you, trust me. When you start a conversation for trading don't rush it!! If you rush it you risk many security issues with yourself. For example, One person I delt with was so desperate to trade his account that he practically gave me account password/username without me even having to try.
2.) The second most common mistake is people getting false gear links.
- Ok, when you decide to meet someone in game...ACTUALLY MEET THEM!! Just because they link you gear it DOES NOT mean they actually have it! There are mods out there like Item Sync that will record each and every item you seen in the AH and or when inspecting someone, It's not hard for someone to go from a main city to a starting zone... that's what they made mounts and flight paths for people. Do not let up until they meet you in the starting zone or agreed place. If they refuse just walk away from the deal, because its an obvious scam.
3.) Fast talking scammers.
- Now this is a mistake scammers will make but most people will look away at. If you talk to a person over AOL Instant Messenger or MSN Messenger or whatever messenger service you use... pay attention to how fast the replies come and the amount of times they ask you if your willing to trade or want your information for the account. If they ask more than 3 times within the span of a few minutes then they are more than likely trying to scam you. Like I said before take your time, If the person your trading with Isn't willing to do that, then drop it and refuse to trade.
4.) Secret Questions, Answers and Email Addresses.
- If you do not know your secret question or it's answer then your probably safer to not trade, that's just common sense. If you don't have the ability to change the email address, like if you did a previous trade and the person didnt change the address to yours, then your best bet is to NOT TRADE... I mean seriously people I've gotten so many people this way... all the person has to do is change the password and your account goes bye-bye. Make sure you have all the information you need to trade the account and make sure the email is in your name.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
== Scammer Tactics and Tricks ==
First of all make sure you have the person's email address that you are trading with. Don't let them give you a fake email address ask for the one they use for everyday use, I'm sure they will be resistant but if they are legit and want to trade for real then they will submit.
1.) False Account Information.
- Ok so the best way to avoid this is to do a quick account check using Blizzards Account Managment. Just go to www.worldofwarcraft.com and go to the Account Managment section. Use the person's login information to check to make sure its correct. At this time make a note of their email address (this is for later reference). Next, go to the paid character transfer tab locate the server they are on (you should know since you MET THEM IN GAME) now whether or not the account is transferable is your preference, the thing your looking for is their character, this screen will show you their character's name, level, race and avaliability on transfer. If the character your trading for isnt there then drop the deal and stop talking to them.
2.) Everything has checked out but they say they can't change the email.
- Ok so everything is in check but the guy your trading with says he can't change the email address that's on the account because it used to be his friend's or some other excuse. Well this is where that little note of their email address comes in handy, double-check the email on the account and see if you see any things that are alike at all or in some cases it matches exactly.
3.) The WoW Site lag.
- This is by far the most trickiest part of a scammers bit and also where they seal the deal in most cases. Lets assume everything has gone great and everything checks out characters and email addresses. Yall already swapped passwords and checked out each others account and are ready to change the emails on the account. Make sure you verify that he/she has changed the email address on the account there will be no lag on Blizzard's website it is an instant update, I've done this many times. Once again, Blizzard's website will not lag on updated account information, if he/she claims that its lag and that they changed the emails then they are lying. I personally have never had lag time on a account update in my life of playing wow or any other mmorpg. Do not believe them if they say this, just drop the subject and change your password and/or reset it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those are just a few of many tips and tactics of scammers. If you want to know more of the tactics or tips on account safety please feel free to email me or I-M me on AOL.
Also, if your not sure if the person your talking to is legit I will be more than happy to talk to the person for you if you need me too, and I will give you my opinion about the person.
Thanks for reading my post I know it was a bit long but hopefully you will take something from this and your account trading will be safer and hopefully your overall security of your account is a little bit better.

Well, that's true but you also have to remember that not all scammers know what they're doing, to be honest most of them are just little kids who know only but one way to scam an account, which ironically was in my post. So in turn yes I've probably ruled out a potential tactic that will not be used anymore, but I've also given you protection on what to look out for, and now those few scammers don't know what to do and will now have to find other ways to attempt to scam.
And for those of you who have emailed me, already, asking to teach you how to scam accounts ... I will not teach you. Your wasting my time and wasting your own.
