I just recently bought a WoW account off a guy for $245 U.S, he gave me account name and password but wouldn't change the email or phone number. I loged on and played for a couple of hours until midnight, and than next morning the password changed and now I cant do anything. He deleted his paypal account but I have his personal information.
What legal action can I take against him?
I live in the United States and he lives in Canada, what can I do, will the FBI, police do anything in this matter?

You should lodge a payment reversal from paypal and find out what they suggest to proceed further legally. They need to change their practices and they dont want to. We need more people to complain to get this type of behavior stopped.
If the RIAA can complain about stealing with no money changing hands, then virtual assets should be protected for everyone.

Paypal does not protect Virtual transactions. As a verified member they will go thru the normal channels, but that is it.
From a legal stand point your screwed. The new process allows you to change the user name and initial email, with the pertinent information you should have done this.
IMO,call blizzard, tell them you purchased a character, this will create a dispute on the account. They will lock the account and start going thru their procedure. You will want to get a name and email that tech a screen shot or billing receipt from paypal as well as any evidence relating to the account, like emailed passwords.
Your ONLY recourse, since there is noway your going to pay what it would take to prosecute him, is to retaliate and get the account banned.
