She probably already was aware he was gay. Relatives of polititcians often keep secrets ( sometimes rightfully so ) and live out the apparent normal life in order to boost the career of the spouse in politics. The fear of blackmail to extort a 7 figure amount by a male staff member I believe threatening to claim **** abuse, or somethign along those lines, is what forced him to come out. Looking at his situation, I think it was a fairly smart move to come out and avoid a huge scandle.
