Well, wasn't I surprised to find out that the kiddies in AR are given two days off from school in honor of the beginning of HUNTING SEASON.....and if the schools do not give the kids off, the little boys get special dispensation to miss school so they can go with their daddies and big brothers...

What is wrong with this picture?

This is a state, mind you, that does NOT honor MLK day....so the kids are not given THAT day off...

What does going hunting with fathers have to do with MLK day.

I hope you're not implying that there all racist who like to hUNT!

MLK was a great civil rights leader and he did alot of great things don't mean you got to honor his Bday every year.

Dear god..........

Paden, it's just that AR is one of only a few states that does NOT honor his birthday...and considering that Brown vs. BoE took place down here, well....it doesn't seem right that they don't honor it...

No, hunting has nothing to do with MLK...and nothing to do with being racist...my point was what they get days off from school for....and what they don't

Wow, thats great.

Its the total opposite here in liberal land. On Fire Island, the barrier beach of Long Island NY, they have THOUSANDS of deer roaming free in residential areas. The deer have no predators at all and breed like rats. The are everywhere, covered with ticks and looking all dirty. They fear nothing, not even large dogs scare them. The just walk around eating whatever they can where ever they want, garbage included. The idiots who live there, only in the summer and fall mind you, treat them like pets. Then ignore them when they leave during the real s****y months when half of them starve to death.

And the idiots don't want to let anyone "hunt" them.

They want the state to pay for "moving" them to another area.

Or they want the state to pay for a program to sterilize them.

f*****g losers, they disgust me.

AR could teach them a lesson.

Sounds like the Canadian Geese dilemma, Kbarr....not sure about LI, but in Rockland and the surrounding counties, UGH..they were everywhere...s******g everywhere...green turds on school lawns, parks lawns, MY f*****g lawn...

The government has a brainstorm--let's kill them and give them to the poor for food! ROFL...you can imagine how well THAT went over...they tried to kill the eggs before they hatched....tried taking some of them away....everything but outright killing them...

I get off from work next Friday for Hunting Day. I work for Volvo, but since it was bought out by Ford, we adopted Ford's holidays. Very Happy

They shit here on LI just like upstate:) There is so much green grass around many, if not the majority, just stay here during the winter months. And no one wants to see them harmed in any way.

Its comical.

If they were camping out and s******g on my lawn I would get my bow, string a line to an arrow and take them out as they sleep. One at a time from my front porch, late at night.

THWAP!

insert loud goose noises fading away as I pull it onto my porch then into my house

Then silence.

Anyone hungry?

That's not the only state like that... though West Virginia also supports MLK day. (Won't go into my opinions on that). I don't hunt, but I like me some deer meat. If they want extra days off, go for it... most employers here give vacation time for hunting as well. How freaky is that?

Its freaky in liberal areas where hunting is considered a bad thing.

Hunting is a good thing.

I agree that hunting is a good thing.. not MY thing... but a good thing. I like the benefits of it, but I'm not much of a hunter/gatherer... well... maybe a gatherer.

I just can't really see having special holiday time for hunting at a job though. Maybe it's just cause I don't hunt. <nods> I'll trust KBarr on this one and acquiesce to his wisdom.

I personally don't like to hunt, but I have nothing against others that do it safely.
