If you want to live then you need to make the conscience decision to live and stop romancing depressed thoughts. You'll end up wasting so much energy on the negative that you can't deal with life as a whole, just makes things worse.

Whoever it was that said Neuro Linguistic Programming please explain further. Isnt that like the process of being able to read ones eye movements based upon feeing/emotion, memory, calculating etc?? How does finding out if your a feeling, seeing, or thinking person help with depression? Do tell.

The Buddhists believe in living in each moment. This is something I try hard to embrace but honestly have yet to accomplish for more than 5 hours consecutive. What this means is when your doing something, even sweeping the floors...DO IT. Feel it, find something positive in it, and dont let your thoughts wander to other things especially negative things. Find something beautiful to enjoy in everything you do. If your doin dishes, open the window and appreciate the way the sun moves through the clouds, or the way the tree sways in the wind.

They also teach you to pay attention to what your saying to yourself internally. This is a scary thing. Seriously try for a day to hear everything you say to yourself. Its pretty scary how much we beat ourselves up. The other day I was getting dressed and told myself in the mirror I looked f*****g stupid, then when making coffee and spilling old coffee grounds on the floor I called myself stupid. Really, its freaky when you listen to your own voice.

Transcendental meditation is great for relaxing. Stress sometimes gets me down, feeling like I never have enough time in the day. When I meditate it helps me feel more incontrol, as does keeping to a schedule.

Positive visualization. At night before bed, think about what you want and visualize it. Even if its something simple like how you want the following day to go.

Exercise is a huge one for me. I feel like shit if I dont work out every day.

Read great books. I would recommend Dan Millmans The Way of the Peaceful Warrior. =) This book changed my life.

If all else fails, push down old people. It makes you feel strong and its funny when they cant get back up. When they lay there whimpering look at them and say "Have you fallen and cant get up?" Laugh and walk away.

No, you are incorrect. I have no idea what you are thinking about either.
NLP in a nutshell is a way to program yourself. Through mental exercises to anchor positive and negative feelings to certain actions or inactions. It takes dilligence to get the most out of it. But even an everday Joe can easily get enough use out of it to feel neutral to mildly positive all the time. Any great person in any field requiring lots of dilligence is a strong practitioner whether they know it or not. I think this is good enough for a intro explanation. It was devoloped a while ago, Tony Robbins claims he has progressed the art/science of it much further. Some people disagree with this, but I'm not one of them.

Most people looking for a solution to whatever personal problems they may have tend to balk at the idea of NLP. Some people are just unwilling to accept the responsilbility that how they feel at given point in time is entirely up to them regardless of their personal circumstances. Not to mention the part that it requires laborious effort that some people find demeaning initally.

Interesting. I went to an NLP class years ago and here is what we discussed.

Mostly it was about finding out if the people we were interracting with were understand/comupter, seeing, or kinetic/touching/feeling. This was done by listening to their speach. Some people when discussing their emotions say " i really feel like blah blah...or when you do this it makes me feel blah blah". Some people when discussing their emotions would be like I see what your saying but I really dont see how this pertains to blah blah. Others talk about their understanding of the CONCEPTS. etc. Im not explaining this well but this is what he yapped on and on about.

The other stuff we learned that day was how to read peoples eyes and know what they are thinking. If they look Down and Right they are making up lies or thinking of what to say. If they look down and left its feeling and emotion...etc. If looking up and right they are visualizing a memory and if up and left they are calculating numbers etc.

This was about 8 years ago so perhaps NLP has changed or thats just one 100th of what NLP is. Perhaps the guy that tought the class was a quack. /shrug.

This was a NLP for sales and marketing professionals so they probably focused more on stuff they thought would benefit us in the sales field.
