What the hell is .NET exactly, anyway? I've never found anyone who could give me a good answer to that question. As near as I can tell, it's a random collection of all the standard stuff that everyone (i.e. not Microsoft) has, but given new names to confuse you and make you think it's some special Microsoft innovation or something.

MSN Messenger p****s me off too. If you login to hotmail in IE it starts up and won't close until you close every IE window. It gives some b******t about how it's being used by a program. This is one of the reason I use only Firefox now... but if you try to check your email through MSN Messenger with anything besides IE as your default browser, it still opens your email in IE. f*****g MS >

here, taken from dslreports.com
| Quote: | Microsoft has not made it easy to get rid of Messenger but there is a simple way to remove it forever. Here are the steps:
Click Start, Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Run box and click ok. A status bar will pop up and after you reboot your system it will be gone, for good!:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Psst. I'm aware of the whole Britney look-alike post from a few weeks ago. I was hoping Lauren000 would see it first... I had a beautiful plan laid out. Thanks for ruining it!!!!

Just delete the msmmgs.exe (spelling might be off) from the messenger directory in programs. Much simpler. Or rename it if you don't feel like deleting.
*edit* Another way would be to avoid opening Outlook at all and installing a secure mail program instead. Thunderbird comes to mind. You would get rid of two things, MSN and 10000 security holes.
