I'm kind of confused with the account creation options that SL offers. I don't really know the difference between them… I mean I know the Premium is the paying one and Basic is the free one, but I don't know what the limitations of the Basic account are. Also, what's up with these First and Additional Basic options? Is there some place where all this is clearly summarized?

Well here, I'll try to explain it in layman's terms
The primary difference between Basic and Premium is that users on Basic accounts cannot own land. "Additional Basic" means just that, one Basic account in addition to your first one – it's not an upgrade of any kind, just a secondary account for which you have to pay $10.
Variants of Premium accounts, on the other hand, are differentiated only by billing options – monthly, annually, etc.
