I have read that if you use paypal to sell a WoW account that after the person gets the account information they could tell paypal they never recieved the item they purchased and get the money back from your paypal account. How true is this? And if it is true why do so many people prefer to use paypal when selling their accounts?

Is having them send a personal check and waiting to see if it cashes before giving them account info bad? I've noticed that isn't use too often and was wondering why, wouldn't it be a good way to go if you didn't want to get scammed?

It's only safe to an extent. I use it and can help explain to any who need help.

Many people who play these games and sell the accounts are in their teens. Many of these kids only have paypal available to them, as all they need to do is link it to their bank account (or their grandma's in my case Very Happy ). It's all about convenience.

I'm going to be trying to sell an account soon, would you mind explaining the safest way to make the transaction to me?

I've traded my runescape account to a stranger before via paypal and got the money I wanted. It's all about trust.

There was a funny bug with paypal a couple months ago where the shipping information/ tracking information you entered was inaccessable whenever you clicked on the "shipping" section.

You really have to trust the person, most people that will scam, have poor grammar, or typing skills, because its a 12 year old trying to steal your accounts.

I hate paypal with a passion, such a rip off, someone should make a cheaper alternative.

paypal does ask for a high % of the trade but then again, there is no alternative so we're all quite screwed (with alternative I mean globally used product).
