In this day and age everything is about privacy. Our new locks are passwords. So how many do you have for all your crap?

Over 10... huh? I have a unique password for every web site and system I have access to. Last count was close to 250. Sounds like b******t but it's true.

Even better! I calculate them!

For instance... let's say I was going to generate a password for realpoor. What is the first thing I think of when I think realpoor? EQ. Always. That will never change. The two are inseparable concepts (for me).

"EQ" now becomes the root of the password. It's one concept over.. not a large leap (it shouldn't be). It is the primary associating key with "realpoor.com" and as such it acts like a "good enough" buffer.

All my passwords have a similar pattern. Let's pretend it's NN-root-Symbol. Where NN is a number associated with EQ, root is the root concept (EQ), and Symbol is an immediate jump from the root concept.

In the case of EQ, it would be the number 60 and the concept where EQ and realpoor collide: digital smut.

The idea is that I catch the very first, absolute first, association. It works like a charm.

The result of the "rule" for this site would then generate 60-eq-smut as a password. Or maybe ^o_SMUT_eq if i were mixing up case a little.

The point is it looks different, but it has serious anchors to the topic that I will never forget. How do I know I won't? Well uh.. I've been calling BBS's and using passwords on computers since 1988 and have yet to forget even one with this system. Hell. When I called the Bubbly Orange BBS in '91 or so my password was "oo][bo17", for "operation overkill 2, bubbly orange, 17 yrs of age."

This topic really interests me because so many people I talk to every day use b******t, easily-guessed passwords. In fact I would say well over 95% of Internet users do. It makes me sick. People who won't even exercise a little creativity to protect their own sad little assets/asses are always the people who whine first about "evil hackers" getting into their systems.

I actually refused to change one lady's password tonight because it was so unbelievably easy to guess.

"Um... can you make it, spuds21?"
"Sure. Let me guess. Spuds is your dog and your son is 21?"
"Yeah, how did you know?"
HOLY f**k. EAT A TUB OF SHIT, WOMAN. EAT IT WITH A PLASTIC DAIRY QUEEN SPOON YOU HIDEOUS LITTLE SEA URCHIN. CRAWL BACK IN YOUR RAINBOW BRIGHT FANTASY WORLD WHERE NO ONE COULD POSSIBLY CONCEIVE YOU WOULD USE A PETS NAME AND A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER.

Edit: i haven't slept in a day or so and was f*****g up a vocabulary ekekeke

What the f**k is wrong with you, Elavis?

You sound like some computer or something.

I use the password "cockballface" for everything.

Most of my passwords are so random it's funny.

Example: The password for my old highschools message board was IFuckTigers. And no, the school mascot was not a tiger.

I can't remember much more than 3. I usually go with phrases that I can remember and make the password the first letter of every word. So, like, for my MSN password, I think of the phrase "I wish Bill Gates would die in a fiery inferno", and my password would be "iwbgwdiafi". Sometimes I throw in numbers too.

i used to do that but then id forget the phrase. so i usually pick some random shit like poop.5 . something easy to remember but random enough where it dont relate to me. the doors at work are all numbers and the pc at work is paranoid security. upper case/lower case/numbers/special chars and at least 12 digits. all in the same one. plus i have to change it every 30 days and cant use the same password i used in the last 10. plus it must vary by at least 6 characters. its a pain in my ass

I like when you get some retarded MIS department that makes you change your password every 30 days or some idiot thing, as a way of justifying their existence. Since it's inconceivable that anyone could remember a password under those conditions, I usually just write it on a sign in big letters and tape it over my PC, and cross out the old ones and replace them with the same thing incremented by 1. Like "ThisIsDumb01, ThisIsDumb02, ThisisDumb03". Then I point it out to everyone. I'm a rebel like that.

Making people change their password frequently works well in theory. However most people hate it so thye are more likley to make weaker passwords.

i wish it was that easy. but unfortunatly there is a reason my pc is secure. its not like i work for the cia and info from my pc could bring about alot of bad shit but there are some things on it not for some to see. our whole network is like that. its not all secret but shit happens when your not secure. at home my password is 5 digits. only reason theres even a password is because i dont want my gf seeing my porn P

Best passwords are semi-pronounceable but randomly generated. That's the way we do them for the network at work and I actually find them pretty easy to remember.

something like

kiLy4maKtodd

it's random, and totally impossible to guess, but Killy for Mack Tod sorta sounds like a silly sentence that I find very easy to remember. Basically just random letters but with vowels spaced strategically so it can be pronounced.

We change passwords every 6 months and I never have trouble remembering mine after a couple days. Course I use it several times a day. They ones I hate are safe combinations...just 3 numbers always leaves my brain if I don't use it for a couple months.

I have an algorithm system like elavis does. Different algorithm, but it provides me with different passwords for each site.

I only use it on sites I give a crap about tho. random sites I just give crap email and fuckoff as a password.

I hate passwords.... Evil or Very Mad

daoc
yahoo
msn
lotus notes
outlook road runner
outlook army medical dept
outlook west point
army distance learning site
army correspondence course site
ako army knowledge online
gen reimers online digital library
dfas online army finance
tsp thrift savings plan
approvit electronic signature file
alarm codes to my facility

There are more, I just keep forgetting them..

What really sucks is most of them demand PW changes every 6 months and they have some awful rules for creating an acceptable password.
