I am a bit embarrassed to ask this question, but trust me I was looking everywhere for this answer and you are my last hope. I was trying to gain access, but I was denied. Is there something special that I need to know how to do, or is it not possible to gain access at all?

Of course that you are not doing anything wrong and of course it is possible to gain access in any station that features in this game. The only thing you need is enough skill points to be able to do it. Don't feel embarrassed for asking this question, and keep in mind that there will be many other players who will find the answers for their question in your post. So just think of it as a pioneer in this station access sector. Also, with this game, like with any other you just have to be patient and wait for your chance to shine and when that chance comes make sure to use it well.
