|
|
|
I played the open beta and have been playing the recent beta a good deal, getting most of the classes im interested past lvl 15 to just experiement and get a basic feel for them. The main question I have now is how do the classes preform in pvp? I plan to play with 5-6 rl friends so alot of my pvping will be done in groups, but I still want to be able to put the hurt on in some 1v1.
I have tried reading up on it in forums, but most are overrun with bnet whiny b*****s talking about wars, shams and paladins with attrition tactics beating everybody.
More specifically, to Ash or anybody with real hunter experience, how well does the class hold up in 1v1 and group battles? It seems like the pets get ignored like typical pvp and it just becomes a "beat them down before they get in melee range" kinda deal then hope to finish them off.
Any info about shamans as well, or any class you play would be appreciated as well

Pet's don't get ignored. If I am 100% certain I will own the Hunter I am facing, I'll be damn sure to kill the Pet first, so you guys have to feed him again! Haha.
Hunters can hold their own in PvP. They're a nuisance more than anything. A knowledgeable hunter can own most classes, but I haven't ran into too many.... You know why they have Hunter's Mark? So everyone can see who just owned a Hunter haha.......But between Wing Clip, your DoT, Mana drain, that Dazed shot, arcane shot you have quite a few tools in PvP. They have problems against Wars/Paladins though.

I've played a 54 War, 39 War, 29 Sham, 49 Priest, 25 Rogue.
Shamans are absolute ownage in PvP. But you need to take into consideration that out of all the classes in beta, only Shaman/Rogue is the closest to "finish" so to speak. So things may change in release. But overall, they are a very Fun class to play, versatile, and jack of all trades. They basically have all the skills/abilities at their disposal to react to any situation in the game. They have 3 lines of instant cast spells: DoT+DD, DD+Snare, DD+Spell interrupt. Earthbind totem + whichever instant cast you use in PvP is extremely deadly. Lots of good gear selection since they can use mail, along with 2H Axe/Mace. In a nutshell, shamans are: Decent support Healer, Above average Melee dps, Decent nuking damage, lots of utility spells: Stoneskin totem, Tremor Totem, HP/Mana regen, Windfury totem. Honestly, I really recommend this class. Out of everything I have played in Beta, it was the most enjoyable, and I had an absolute blast. Please take into consideration that they are a bit weak in the first 15-20 levels. This is mostly due to the poor mana efficiency of their spells, and smaller mana pool. But I been told they have smoothened this out, and mana isn't that big a factor now.

Kind of frustrating that the alliance counterpart of the shaman is so entirely weak.
