Or, in other words can I destroy a planet in oGame? Some say it can't be done, but I know for a fact that I saw a "planet destroyed" message a few times, and I've only been playing for a few weeks! So, what's the deal: How do you destroy planets?

You don't. For f***'s sake, people, you CANNOT DESTROY PLANETS IN OGAME! How is it possible that this question keeps popping up!? I mean, I realize no one reads the FAQ, but still… The event you see noted with a "Planet Destroyed" message is just a surrender of a colony. A player gives his planet up, and it's chalked off as "destroyed", an unfortunate choice of words, in hindsight.

Ok, Destroyed Planet actually means Abandoned Colony, but can someone else colonise that planet later? if they can when can they? i've been eyeing up a perfect planet position but the destroyed planet message has been there for ages.
Suggestions?

Yeah it ussualy takes about 24 hours after a planet has been destroyed , and i mean if you don't know when was it destroyed like most dont just keep checking up on that location and sooner or later the sign " Destroyed planet" will clear ,
And to the first question planets are indestroyable that's what makes the game interesting imagine if you now have 7 very good colonies and some strong player gets p****d at you and destroys all of your planets for fun how would you feel ? Like giving up. Well similar thing happends when you get your flete dewstroyed but you have your planets and your mines and you'll rebuild , where if planets were possible to destroy you'd have no will to couse as any ogame player knows it's a hassle and a half to get all your cololnies in the right position and with right ammount of fields 200+ . But the moons are which is another diferent topic , you can destroy moons .

you can only destroy your own planets... and to destroy ur planet u click ur name in the overview then click destroy planet...
