I am wondering how big the LOTRO world is. I know that Tolkien had made Middle Earth a really big place, but I do not know if the developers have done the same job. In addition, how important is PVE? I am a big fan of everything with Tolkien’s signature. I want to play the LOTRO, but I still need to do more research about it.

Almost every player is surprised when they enter the game for first time. You cannot imagine the size of the world when you are reading about the game, or when you are looking the game trailers. It is as big as or bigger than Middle Earth from the Tolkien’s book. It must be big, because of the numbers of player at every single second. The size cannot be explained in words. It must be seen with your eyes. PVE is very important in the game, as it is in many other MMORPG’s. You will be very satisfied with the game.

Great size to the world. Well if you come from wow it seems huge with tons of content to explore as you have to either walk it or horse it. A very up close and personal feel.

In wow you just fly over 95% of it and land where you need.

Lord of the rings online has alot to explore as there are shard droppers tucked away and you have to clear some small forts to get to them and make your way out. Some area's that are really hard to get to without a group ( pre-book 12 CD and the rift anybody, i hated that run )

PVP is somewhat important but more a side note. You can either raid or do pvmp. You basically gain rank the more you kill.

The more rank you have the better rewards/gear you can get.

The gear is nice, if you dont want to farm to buy crafted gear, or farm to make it all and hope for nice critted items. I think I hit rank 5 in a week or so of somewhat casual playing. After that it gets pretty steep.

BUT what is cool is you get to know the peopleyou play with, and the Monster controlled players as well. Its a smaller community and you arnt just washed away in a mass of random alts whom you will never see again
