How big is LOTRO now, and will it survive all those new MMOs that are coming? I am hoping that will happen, because I love to play this game, and I do not wish to stop playing. I hope that it will stay online for a long time. Maybe many players will abandon this game in favor to some of those new and fancy ones. That will be bad for vanguard and I hope that will never happen.

You are right. Maybe some players will stop playing LOTRO, and start playing some other new MMO game. However, I think many of the passionate and loyal gamers will stay and continue to play this game. It will make it through that transition period, if I can call it like that. This is one tough game, and it will stay online for a long time. You cannot compare this game to any of those new ones, because this one has history and millions of loyal fans. That must have some influence in the future. We can only wait for those new games, and we will see what will take place.

Well, LOTRO is a pve based mmorpg, if you look at the coming mmorpgs in 2008, most of them are pvp based (AoC, AION, Warhammer Online).
I dont think that LOTRO will lose many players because of these games.
