How Global research works in Anarchy Online?

I see that lots of good stuff is incorporated to the new sequel (expansion) of Anarchy Online – Lost Eden. I like Victory points system and I find this new skill gain thru research interesting, too. I’d like to know how can I get most out of Global Research function in AO?

There are two types of research available in Lost Eden – Personal and Global Research. You access the research system by pressing ‘shift-O’. There you choose your project and how many xp you give for its development. Global research is more successful when more people take part in it. What you gain is upgrading your present vehicles , or unlocking some new vehicles.
