How addictive is Eve Online, really? I haven't tried it yet myself, but you know, it's just that I've heard stories, and some of them even bordered credibility. Is it more addictive than, say, World of Warcraft? (I know it's not that type of game, I'm just using it for comparison.)

Short answer: Very, very addictive, dangerously so. Seriously.
Long answer: It can get pretty bad that way. The thing is, you need to bear with it at first, stick through the boring early training and the parts where you can't really do much by yourself. Soon enough it'll be eating up your life, rest assured.

EVE is very fun, but if you are in the mood for more action and less political / slow paced gaming you shouldnt venture into EVE. Although it does have combat, it isnt very exciting or fast paced.

I love EVE..I was big into EQ1 for 8 years and EVE is so much better because you dont have to "grind" XP your toon learns in RL time even when your not on-line...great game for a parent to play when time is touch and go imo

I think its sorta spurious addiction, you can not play for a month and just train up you skills. Then come back, fly your new ship and be addicted for again

It's a great game if you enjoy real, meaninful PvP. You have to join a corp to get the most out of it though as you won't enjoy it as much solo.

It is very addictive. The good thing is that you don't have to play it to gain skills, at least. But if you get into a good corp you're going to have a blast and you'll want to roam/camp/pvp like 5-6 hours each evening. I takes about an hour to get gang going then expect it to go on 2-3 hours after that. Then people will want to get together the next day and so on.
It can be a very addicting game.
