I don't understand why anyone really roots for a certain team. Most of the players aren't even from your town. They're just paid to be there. Hell, most of the Cardinals don't even own a house in the area. They just play here.
As a side note, the Cardinals are having a big ass party at my work (a museum) Monday night. All the players and families will be there, as well as Boston players and families. Any requests?

i always root for mah home team, not soo much cause the players are from here, but once they are in houston we USUALLY keep them a while and they become a part of the city. Take Olajawon, Biggio, and Bagwell for example they were or have been here for a long ass time. Unfortunately i dont think the same will be for beltran or clements. clements will prolly retire and beltran will go with the money IMHO.

What's so bad about 'bandwagoning?' For example, I'm a Yankees fan, but since they blew it in the greatest collapse in sports history, there's no use rooting for them until the next season begins.
Because of my deep annoyance with the Red Sox at the moment, I will be cheering for the Cardinals (the only other team left!) for the remainder of the season.
