I'm officially beginning house hunting in Atlanta. I'm going to sell my townhome and downgrade to something further out for less money. Tonight I will take a look at these. They look pretty nice (from the web site, and my fiance happened upon them a couple days ago) and are moderately priced. 20 minutes away from Hotlanta (in no traffic...probably 3 hours in traffic).

Wouldn't you rather have a house house, not a TH?
It's soooo much better having your own house.

Yeah, I'd prefer a 'house' house, but those terrace level Townhouses look nice.

Yeah, why not buy a house. Check out Cummings county, you can get a mansion for about 300k and be a little over 1/2 hr from Atlanta. I bought my mom a house there and only spent 120k for about 2000 square feet on 1/4th an acre. Here in NY, the same house would have cost 250/300k. Houses are very cheap there.

Depends how they're built. I live in a townhouse now and have never heard a peep out of any of my neighbors because the walls are thick.

Yes...but the chickens. I'm also going to look in c*****g. Basically I want something 20-30 minutes away from town because the price drops off dramatically. Pulte had a nice neighborhood they put up in c*****g, but the prices rose literally $75,000 since they started building. I like them, though.

Why don't you buy some property and sub contract your own house. I'm doing that the next time I buy down there. Its the cheapest way to go, if you are in no rush.

Wow, super psycho... we already discussed that like 6 months ago, didn't we? I was using a figure off the top of my head when I was looking at job offers out in Washington State. The 15% is in reference to Seattle and Detroit, and the larger desparity in reference to Seattle and Atlanta.
Actually, if you look at the going price of a 3,000 sq. ft. Pulte home in these neighborhoods... we've got about $275,000 in Atlanta and $320,000 in Detroit. That would be about 15% lol.

Uh...no. In the thread you were talking about income disparities between california and michigan, saying incomes in california were higher because of a 15% cost of living difference. You said that cost of living was greater than 15% higher in Atlanta than Detroit. Sorry...once again you were 180 degrees in the wrong direction.

Uh... no.
I said the cost of living was about 15% higher on the westcoast than it was in Michigan, and the disparity would be higher between the westcoast and Atlanta. Now this will vary from neighborhood to neighborhood (for instance Oakland County, MI, would have a higher cost of living) but these Pulte homes only show what I was referring to.
Look how much a 3,000 square ft. home cost on the westcoast, then look at Detroit, then look at Atlanta. The disparity between the westcoast and Atlanta is larger than the disparity between the westcoast and Detroit.

Apparently you have a problem reading. This was the exact exchange:
Uglar: I wouldn't play EQ for 8.00 an hour... Man where the f**k you live? $8.00 is wellfare status!
You: When I was his age I made $3.00/hour.
Me: Uglar = westcoast. I know wages are about 15% higher there than in Michigan (as an example) because the standard of living is 15% higher. The desparity is even larger in Atlanta.
Now why the hell would I even get into an exact comparison between the cost of living between Michigan and Atlanta when the subject was Uglar's $8.00 vs. your $3.00? All I said was the cost of living on the westcoast was greater than that of Michigan, which was greater than that of Atlanta. The Pulte homes show exactly what I was talking about.

Because, d*****s. I made $3/hr when I lived in Panama, not Atlanta. The CORRECT way to word this so that there wasn't confusion would be to actually qualify what you were comparing Atlanta to...Detroit or the west coast. But instead you said, "wages are about 15% higher there than in Michigan (as an example) because the standard of living is 15% higher. The desparity is even larger in Atlanta." Now is that a disparity between Atlanta and Detroit or the west coast? Naturally I assumed that since you were comparing Detroit to Michigan (in that order) that you were then comparing Detroit to Atlanta. Since there is a positive disparity between the Detroit and the west coast, it would follow that a greater disparity between Detroit and Atlanta would be a greater positive disparity...or greater than 15%. At least you weren't an english major.

No, I'm just sure nobody paid attention. You never said which you were comparing it to, but the wording implied Atlanta was 15% more than Detroit. And no point, other than another example of your wrongness.
BTW...how could you think I made $3 in the US? The minimum wage hasn't been that low since the 70's.

So much tension. Aren't you two getting a little tired with constantly comparing the size of your virtual penises? You should just f**k each other and be done with it.

Janoth isn't 15, at his age I don't believe you were living in Panama anymore. I figured $3 was an exaggeration (as it seemed you exaggerated Janoth's youth) of a low paying job out of highschool.
And you were the only person who misread that. I've gotten into your head soooo bad.

Just because nobody pointed out it didn't make sense doesn't mean that it does. And what does Janoth have to do with anything? I was guessing his age. I lived in Panama until 17 and literally made $3/hour in high school. Sense is not your friend, is it?
