...comes out tomorrow, who's getting it? I know there hasn't been much good said about it, but I've been waiting for this game for 3 years so damnit I'm going to play whether it sucks or not. Who's with me?

I had originally planned to play it before the blackout, but i lost interest by the time they started releasing info again. I know a few people who beta tested it and they were not impressed so I will not even bother heh.

Few things...most of the ennemies are undead only. there are NO dungeons at all in the game. So mosly a game like SB.
Most of the classes that were supposed to be at the released are NOT which mean 1 thing..rush..lack of money...game that wont go anywere.
It will prob have a release like SB lots of curious...then slowly but faster then SB and many others the poppulation will go down.
What I find funny is that many many online rpg are comming out ..they all hope to win the jackpot without considering the fact that the number of people who like these games is very limited.
No game will ever beat EQ ever. So...

Like every other games..but you know like me that if there is no dungeons....its f*****g boring and tghey cant add this via patches.
Nothing to lose anyway to wait and read forums.

Not only that also underwater race, these 2 where besides dragon the reason to play oh and also angel.
They cant do it its just as simple as that. They did their best to keep dragon to prevent everyone from running away but I bit that having a dragon fly will be buggy as hell and almost unplayable.
For once folks dont waste your money on a game in a rush wait for critics.
Hell in a month they will prob offer a free trial lol

You guys think any game will ever have the success EQ had? Seems like we've been waiting for years, and it's just not going to happen. I wonder if the games aren't as good, or expectations are just too high now, or if we all know better than to get sucked in as much so it doesn't seem as compelling.
Just seems like EQ was something that will never be repeated. When I think of all the faults EQ had, it seems like we excused a lot more than we're willing to put up with now, because it was the only choice.

Well if you compare EQ at release with many game like DAoC and SB and SWG at their release...they did not bad at all, what saved EQis that it was the only game avaliable.
Also EQ at release was indeed very bugged.
In a year there will be like 5-6 new online RPG so...there isnt enough room for everyone.

What the hell are you people talking about? Lineage has over 2,000,000 subscribers in asia. WoW is going to be hitting asian and us markets. Warcraft is an unbelievable phenomenon in Korea. WoW will crush everquest in subscriptions. Add in all the people who play wc3 and dont play any mmorpgs already.

I don't think expectations are too high. There really hasn't been a decent mmorpg after EQ, FF11 is a good game, but it wasn't as good as eq, prolly only cause leveling felt even slower and death exp was uber gay.
In closing, no expextations aren't too high.
Example- Gran Turismo 3, greatest racer of all time, there hasn't ben an overall better one since then, but there have been a lot of better arcade / specialty racers that came out after. And I'm sure GT4 will be better overall.

Well if DAoC or SB or whatever would have been out when EQ was release with the stupid exp penalty when we had no exp res..many many people would have left EQ.
And Al you are right WoW is prob the only one beside the LoTR online rpg that has chance to beat EQ and place themself as number 1.
Way too early to tell cause we stil ldont even know what will be the official game contain at release.

me too , but with all the cuts before the release it only mean that its a rush. Look at games that promissed lots of stuff ...after 1 year if not more they still dont have the content originaly promissed.

Everquest,
I think the main reason this game is still around and kicking, is after a long ass time of doing just normaly exp is well the loot in the game. Loot and the high end game are keeping alot of people who would normaly have stopped playing, playing. SWG, very beatuful game but after like a month of playing you pretty much max out your toon, get the best equipment in the game and your done. EQ, keeps on going and going.
I do belive that the only games that have a chance up putting EQ in number two slot are WoW or EQ2. I can only pray that WoW will have high end content cause if not it will get boring after a while. And EQ2 should have high end content or Sony would have gone retarted if they took it out.
As for Horizens, I remember reading about this game like 3 years ago but lost tottaly interest, and the fact that they took out vampires makes me go  . I highly doubt I will even look at getting this game.

The reason Everquest does so well is:
1. It was really fun when you first started
2. Now that you've played you don't want to quit because you've put so much effort into your toons
3. It replaces your RL goals with virtual goals that you can actually complete, which in turn releases endorphines into your system
4. It's also a gigantic chatroom

Pretty accurate summary.
It's really tough to give up on something when you've put in so much time.

FFXI seems nicer then Lineage...but EQ has set the groundwork that other games will have to rival...as we have high standards now.

Star Wars Galaxies is already approaching EQ numbers of accounts and it's not even a year old, and is still exclusively US based I think?
WoW and whatever game SigilGames has coming are going to blow the doors wide open on this market.

My friend runs the ac1/AC2 server farm and has been aproached by Sigil to help them with thier launch, but everything is very very Hush hush.
We shall see whats in the pipe, but it should be big.
Also down the road is LOTR online and AD&D online, these, if turbine doesnt s***w the pooch, shgould be big games too.

Same publisher for AC1/AC2 and the Sigil game (Vanguard is the one leaked name), and that publisher is: Microsoft. Makes sense they'd want some common infrastructure.
