Getting back into my grind, picking up a treadmill and probably a home gym type thing in the next little while. Was curious to see if anyone has any info on these types of things? Like what models of what to get, or what not to buy? Like bowflex and all those types of things? Just throwing out the name, i have to look all this shit up cause I know next to nothing bout this stuff.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Get something that is either small, or can be folded up and stored somewhere out of site. Some of those gym things are so big and well take up half the room.

Punching bag and a jump rope.
Learn to skip rope and punch shit!
Bowflex isn't bad, I knew a guy who used to work out a lot, then just sort of fell out of it, started gaining weight. He went out and bought a bowflex and he's f*****g ripped now :0
Exercise machines are only good if you actually use them. You can't go out and buy a bowflex and expect to be a pimp by using it once a month.

I thought it worked by a process similar to osmosis... as long as it's in the room it will work!
Guess that's why my weights didn't do anything for me...

I go for maximum convenience, otherwise I won't use it. So I have a semi-recumbant bike with a heart monitor for cardio. With one of those tall wheeled tables that sits alongside and holds my laptop, and a wireless ethernet, I can surf the whole time I'm excercising (or read, or whatever). I'm doing that now in fact. Just set your heartrate for whatever you want it to be, start pedaling and zone out until the little bell rings. I've been using it at least 5-6 days a week 30-40 minutes/day, because it's so convenient. Just need an external mouse, because when you sweat those touchpads don't work for shit

I am going to be using this stuff everyday.
If Bowflex gets done what it says it gets done, I want it.

Everybody gets bored with Bowflex. Think about... working out home alone... each and every day. The average buyer gets two months out of the Bowflex, and that's a fact.

I have motivation.

Look in the classifieds of your local paper. Usually the gym equipment for sale is in pristine condition because people only use em for a week or 2 before selling out.
ESPECIALLY with free weights.

Akronn does have a point though. For the 1600-2000 a bowflex will run you (unless you can get one cheap on ebay), you can get a couple of years membership in a damn good health club, with machines, free weights, cardio, and some company while you work out.

That and running is the only work-out I do. I once bought 3 fitness models, hardly ever used it. Then again, the machinery got so dull for me so fast, while other seem to love it. I guess it's all a matter of what you like, and will keep up.

My buddy has a bowflex I have used a few times, I like it but I dont know about long term use.
Since I only lift for soccer and try to just keep toned and not maxed I use.
Stretch Bands. Look like big rubber bands, great to stretch out with even gain some muscle if used right like using them to resist your curls and stuff.
A curling bar, picked it up cheap and it uses the same weights as my bench.
Jump Rope.
Agility ladder that lies on the floor and you run through it.
an old punching bag that has always been in my basement.
A pipe that I can do pullups on that happens to be in the basement.
A weight bench for old school benchpress, and it moves out and if you move the holder up you can do squats. A thing on the end that lets you pump it with your quadriceps.
the dumbells that go on your wrists and ankles for when you run.
a soccer ball, theres no better way to get a good cardio workout other than running than going out and playing a sport.

well depending on what type of work out you wanna do and what type of results you want will show you what type of equipment you need ...
The main things you need :
Dumb Bells-any where from 10lb - 25lb ( there are loads of work outs you can do with these )
Oylmpic size bench ( Don't get the regular ones , those suck)
with the 35lb bar . Again many work outs you can do with a bench and bar with weights ..
jump rope-- cheap and effective
Extras :
If you want to build stronger legs or raise your vertical get some leg weights , those really work ! .
Weighted vest - Though sort of expsensive , these are very awesome and hold lots of uses.. Wear it while your running , doing sit ups or push ups ..
Fat burners - GMC is a great store of find these things at .
Protein Pills - if you want muscle mass choose thing over creatine .. this gives you the meat and size , creatine does build muscles faster but the muscles on creatine tend to have more liquid in them and not as firm . plus creatine f***s your insides unless you drink LOADS of water.. like gallons
Heavy ball - used to work out your arm strength .
yea that just some stuff ...
Keep in mind that places like Costa's Gym have really cheap rates for you to sign up and stuff . 24 hour fitness is evil and is only good when they have badass deals..

I have a membership at lifetime fitness. Considering how much it would cost me to own equipment and the fact that i dont have space for it makes having the membership the best choice for me. I usually go 3 times a week for 90 min workouts.

You forgot the best part of the gym...the singel overweight women that are trying to get back in shape becuase they just broke up with their bf or husband.
Seriously dont waste your money on a bowflex. Get the resistence bands (work great, better then weights if used correctly.) You have a whole gym right there. Plus they can travel with ya. DO Cardio, regardless of how much you lift, with out cardio you will still have the excess fat. Push ups and sit ups are your friends. Gyms are good if you want to socialize with your work outs.

If you plan on lifting alone in your house get the Bowflex. I've used it, great workout.
If you have someone living with you that's going to be a partner spot you, and you have the room, get freeweights and some barbells. 45lb straight bar and an E-Z curl bar. Can work virtually every muscle with those, but you really need a spotter to be able to push yourself. That and ugh, dropping 200+ lbs on your neck because you just burned yourself out isn't a good thing.

That ab wheel is pretty cool too. I tried one of those crunches from a standing position (instead of knees) and was torn up for almost a week lol.

Haha no shit - I tried one of those ab wheels once and it messed me up for like a month. They're probably good, but you need to sort of ease into it.

Would rather be able to do the stuff when I want, where I want. I don't like the atmosphere of the gym anyways. Id rather take 90 mins out of my time to go at the treadmill and whatever at home.
The price isnt an issue either 3 of us will be getting our moneys worth for sure.

Protein pills? huh? Not knocking on you, but can you show me a link or info about this
Also, creatine doesn't f**k your insides up (as in permanent damage), just will give you painful stomach aches. Yes you should drink lots of water, but you should be doing that regardless if you take creatine or not.
