Although they agree that the Focus sucks, they give the Taurus a recomended rating for almost all models in the last 5+ years...
What about a Mercury Sable? CR gives them a reomended thing as well... But they are made by ( or owned or whatever ) by Ford also.

Personally I'm leaning towards the Nissan 350Z.
Of course, two days ago I pull into my parking garage and the spot next to mine, where I have never, ever seen a car, has a new charcoal-grey Ferrarri. It's the one from BadBoyzII. I was quite covetous.

Audi TT hardtop is a nice choice!
However if we are talking purely affordable, somewhat mainstream vehicles then I would have to go with the upcoming Chrysler Crossfire.

I saw a Crossfire today at CostCo. I thought they weren't available for a little while still. They look awesome. I heard they perform poorly, though.

haven't had a chance to see one "in the flesh" so to speak yet, can't wait. They do look awesome, hopefully Car & Driver or Road & Track does a review on them. I never take Consumer Reports car reviews seriously. Mainly because they are looking for different things in a car then I am.

Intelligence? it's more like post every car i can until i find one that makes people say, ya thats the one, "you will be so cool" or "you will get all the lady's with that one." I can agree with researching things before you buy them, I do the same. That's why i only buy the best stuff. But posting every f*****g ad or make of car you are looking at here is a real f*****g annoyance. Wait a few days till i can take some pictures of my truck and i will post what my research, never more than a night has gotten me.
So the real f*****g intelligence doesn't take 2 weeks, d*****t.

Or if you wan't a car that won't break ever get a Civic. Just keep the oil changed and take it to the dealer for xxx mile maintenance and you will never have a problem.

I always thought the point of research is to look through as many outlets of information as possible. Yes and believe it or not, RP is a source of info.
Everyone has opinions about cars and how they handle for themselves. Hell I have a Cavalier that I love. Any car that can get me from Oklahoma to f****n Alaska via Canada, I am going to appriciate (4k miles in 7 days).
But to help you with your research we would need to know, How much you are wanting to spend. The year of car you are looking for, mileage, new or used, and if you are wanting to make payments or not.

Heh, wasn't it consumer reports who made the 'startling discovery' that SUVs have the chance of tipping over if you perform ridiculous manouvres in them?
In all honesty, it's tough to compare the Focus to either the Taurus or the Sable because the Focus was first built for the European market to which it has proven to be a selling success. The Taurus(sable being the same thing), was built for the American market and consequently has proven to be one of the best selling cars of all time in the market. If you want the true driver's car out of the three, the Focus is in front by miles.
Off topic, the best selling vehicle of all time in the States is most likely still the Ford F-series truck, by a long way.
