No, not yet. There is a ridealong program through school but I only qualify when I've completed my current Fire Science requirement plus one more class in Building Construction/Fire Behavior. I like the system this way. This way you get a spot on a truck if you do well in class, and the firefighters on duty don't have to deal with a total nincompoop who chose to ride along that day

I'm a volunteer firefighter where i live. its all volunteer actually. i get paid a small sum for carrying around my beeper 24/7.

One of the main reasons corps are not allowing people to work from home as much is ergonomics. They have 0 control at your house and it been opening up to law suits against corps from people who were working from home. So now everyone else gets f****d.

I actually applied for the fire department thinking it was fully volunteer. They dont pay much for you to have that beeper on you, like 100 USD a month.
