I've just finished the third book in the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. This is, quite frankly, the best book(s) I've ever read. Not only does it have a fantastic story but the overlying metaphysical and spiritual meaning of the series is quite fantastic.

It's supposed to be a childrens book(s), but it is far from it. It is the most important book I've ever read and by far the most entertaining and the most emotional.

Don't read spoilers, don't research it, just buy The Golden Compass/Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass and revel in a story you can't put down, a book whose pages you can't stop turning and a meaning that stops you in your tracks and makes you think.

Regards,
Eduin

Is that the latest Harry Potter book? I thought it didn't come out for a couple of weeks yet.

Don't think anyone really give a f**k if you don't care, Compusmack.
Or, were you just looking for a lame excuse to use some d*****t new picture that some mental midget might mistake for witty?

Settle down, kiddies :p

Eduin,
I bought that series in hardcover about three Christmases ago for one of my nieces. It is not a children's book series, even more so than Harry Potter's stories aren't really children's books. There are several people who believe that series is far better than Rowling's books, too.

Unfortunately, I haven't yet read them myself--I have a stack of books that is unbelievable and I an faithful in reading them in the order that I obtained them...silly, I know, but...LOL

Thupir is Thupir, that's the name of his EQ char.

And yea, assuming these books don't have a radical anti-american message, this is one of Ed's better posts. Cool

Lol, you little b*****s are getting flustered about what? A suggestion to read some books?

And compusmack, you say I don't contribute anything..what is that supposed to mean? From what I see here, Eduin enjoyed some books, and has suggested we read them, maybe you have already though and just didn't like them! I don't know. However, the only person that has made a contribution in this case is Eduin.
Do you call what you do contributing? Personally, I find your innane posts and pictures childish and annoying. Thanks for the contribution!

And yes, Det. Paco on the case!!! Quickly, check my IP!!

These books are good... no anti-american sentiment at all Razz Its more or a philosophical/theological type series, hidden in a childrens book... Much like Huck Finn was a childrens book with a message behind it, this is the same way... its sad though Crying or Very sad

How the HELL are they children's books? They had crap in there I sitll dont understand

I read the first two in 7th grade and then reread them right before Amber Spyglass ( 3rd ) came out in 8th grade. Confused the f**k out of me.

I kind of have an itching to read them again though, they were so damn good and I have no clue how Pullman thought that stuff up.

Eduin faction goes up!

I've heard good things about the books, but no one told me the author and I kept forgetting to look it up, I guess now I'll have no excuse for spending money later at the bookstore, eheh.

Books are about stories and feeling. the story in these is incredible but beyond that they ahve more emotion than I have ever encountered in a novel. I'm not some week willed poofter so I happily admit i cried heavily at the end of the second book and the last 80 odd pages of the third book... I cried my eyes out. It is so wonderful and so sad and so *needed*. Life really is the suck, this just makes that so. It is a wonderful series of novels.

Everyone should read this. It is beyond compare.

This caused an uncontrolled guffaw that sent large blobs spittle out, onto my screen.

Can't you just picture him, home, alone, reading the childrens book, that first tear welling up. Slowly, more tears come....he looks for a hanky...blows his honker and then just breaks down. Happy and joyous in his tearyness he continues to read, blubbering for 80 whole pages.

Because its so *needed*!!

LOL that shit cracks me UP!!!!! every time I read it.....

Yeah, you do, actually, f*g.

This is our little club. I don't know who the f**k you are, mr.eqfag, and frankly, I don't give a f**k who you are. You don't come in here thinking you're cool by posting here, just because you know it exsists. Start off slow, and learn your ways here before you jump right in.

Well, now that that's been said, you can do the f*****g off now, don't come back now, ya hear?

I'd like to dedicate this Arnold to you, my thuper duper b***h..

People that flame Eduin are retarded.

Get your own opinions and argue about them with him, instead of an ad hominem attack. I would post a nice article about propaganda and all, pretty much every major concept can be found in the flames of Realpoor. Interesting societal research there FYI Razz

Anyways I'm going to check out that book, even though I don't like Eduin's opinions or what he says. Books are cool *_*

Clive Cussler's The Sea Hunters II is also quite good, but I'm a big Cussler fan. Formulaic writing at its best!
