Call me wacky, but shouldn't purple items be, like, more rare? What is Blizzard doing? This might as well be "insert MobDroppedGearSet__A into TemplatePlayer__B".
I never bothered with getting high level (above 40) in WoW. Is the trend the same as EQ - farm, farm, farm till you're in all purple?

Well, "epics" in WoW arn't like Epic's in EQ. They just show that an item is a very good quality for it's intended level. Legendary items in WoW, are going to be more on par with Epics, I guess. They're going to be MUCH harder to get.
This is default raid loot though. When you're killing Onyxia & clearing Molten Core, these are the drops you get. I don't think people would waste their time clearing for blues. There's also going to be a whole higherarchy of "raid" epics.
The might armor that I'm wearing is only tier 1. the warrior set, "Wrath", is tier 2 for example.
I wouldn't really complain about that. I guess people like to feel they've accomplished something by having a full purple character. It shows your uber or something.

but yeah. This, like any other MMO, only has lasting power because you're betting your character. Strive toward better pixels = play longer. It's the nature of the beast, really.
I don't really suppose there's a way to get a large volume of players to KEEP playing a game if there wasn't either a loot or ability character advancement option.
As of right now, there's no real character ability advancement. Once hero's go in, that might be a different story, but who knows for certain.

What are your opinions on this thread? I am shooting for the goal of player guilds being as important of factions as NPCs. The more control a group of players have over an area, the more they influence the NPCs nearby. Formerly hostile ones may change their tune and begin working with the players in exchange for resources / services.
Also, guilds expand their territory by setting up watch towers (at first), small encampments, trenches, and so forth until they are able to establish a good fort.
I don't know much at all about the daoc rvr so maybe I am just reinventing the wheel here.

Are you just coming up with ideas, or are you actually building something?
