Looks like it might not be as painful as in other states, I don't see any mention of insurance points...

Oops found it, taken from the PA DMV handbook pg. 67...
http://www.padmv.com/
3362....................Exceeding maximum speed:
Miles over Speed Limit:
6 to 10 ...................................................................................................................................................................2
11 to 15................................................(if violation occurs in an active work zone, 15-day suspension) and.....3
16 to 25................................................(if violation occurs in an active work zone, 15-day suspension) and.....4
26 to 30................................................(if violation occurs in an active work zone, 15-day suspension) and.....5
31 and over..............................Departmental Hearing and Sanctions provided under Section 1538(d) and.....5
(if violation occurs in an active work zone, also 15-day suspension)
So looking like a 5 pointer and a hearing if I am reading this correctly, thats gonna be painful if you can't get it lowered.

And this is section 1538D...
d) Conviction for excessive speeding.--
When any person is convicted of driving 31 miles per hour or more in excess of the speed limit, the department shall require the person to attend a departmental hearing. The hearing examiner may recommend one or more of the following:
That the person be required to attend a driver improvement school.
That the person undergo an examination as provided for in section 1508.
That the person have his driver's license suspended for a period not exceeding 15 days.
The department shall effect at least one of the sanctions but may not increase any suspension beyond 15 days.
Failure to attend the hearing or to attend and satisfactorily complete the requirements of a driver improvement school shall result in the suspension of such person's operating privilege for 60 days. Failure to pass an examination shall result in the suspension of such person's operating privilege until the examination has been satisfactorily completed.
Ouch...

He let me go with a $95 fine. $195 after total charges. No points were issued apparantly, as they are not on the ticket itself and they should be, right? I'd take a picture of it or scan it, but... lost my USB for the camera & my scanner isn't working =/

Last ticket I received there were no points listed as that is handled by DMV, but this was in Indiana.

Well, I live in the Bay Area, and it's backed up during rush hour, but early in the morning or on weekends etc the fast lane is usually going 85-90. Now that I think about it I do know of one person that got a speeding ticket doin 80-something on the freeway but it was in the middle of the night. I guess the key is to just go with the flow. If you're going way faster than the rest of the cars or swerving through traffic you might get a ticket, but doin 90 in the fast lane when the other cars are doing the same you're probably not going to get a ticket. Not to say it's safe, but it happens all the time going through Livermore hehe.

on the 10 going back to LA my brother commonly hits 90-100, and on the 118 going to Simi Valley, all the lanes tend to go 85+ during all times of the day, i live in Silver Lake, neither me or my brother has had a speeding ticket as of yet, but im pretty sure ill be getting one the way im driving

I've never heard of points being written on the ticket. It's almost always a flat policy for points based on the # of mph over the speed limit. I'm pretty sure your getting the "works" as described in zoll's post, unless you get a lawyer and/or it gets thrown out.

I drive the 405, 91, 55, 5, 110, etc.. pretty frequently and I've never been pulled over, and sometimes I drive up to and over 90 mph. You just have to be careful and not be a speed hog the entire time. Watch for cops, behind and in front, and also pulling onto the freeway from a freeway on-ramp. Even if you think you see one, slow down a bit to check, if it's not then proceed to speed. Also, you have to watch out for undercovers, harder to spot, but most of them have that big extra spot light on the dirver side of the window. Some undercovers drive buick centuries so watch out for those too..Ive spotted a few on the 405 charging the carpool lane for unsuspecting victims..
The traffic on the 405 and 5 start becoming bad during the week during work rushes. In the morning it starts becoming trafficky around 8:15 - 8:30 am, and again at 2:30 to about 3:00pm. On the 91 in the morning about 7:00 am the traffic is CRAM packed, same at night...the 91 is a horrible freeway ..
The 55 is about hte same as the 405, and the 110 and 101 freeways are usually pretty packed all throughout the day..although I don't drive those that often so I dunno..
