LOL, sounds like he has insider information. Lets see if I can sound important and all knowing too.
Last WED, I had a face to face with an Official in the Army War College. She descibed to me a detailed study conducted by a small group of field grade officers designed to pick out weaknesses and develope ways to improve on the plans unfolding in OIF.....blah blah blah...
Sounds like sensitive insider information. eh?
Translastion: I had a chat with a Med Corps Major standing in line to use an ATM. She told me she and her classmates enrolled in a Distance Learning portion of the Army War College ate pizza and drank beer Tuesday night and talked about the war. They had the party because a fellow classmate was departing the installation to a new assignment...

Why not just say.
"Yah, yeah, yeah, whatever.... you know it all,
Thankyou for your opinion, it will be taken into consideration. Bye now!"
and stop running in circles with these People who just dont want to understand.
It would be a different story if someone acually posted something that wasnt a take-off of the last 300 anti-war topics.
maybe im seeing it Bias but Not one explanition to the "Why are we fighting or ~War~ " posts is ever make a difference to "Those people"
The end result is always plain and Simple.....
They Hate Americas Ways.
And thats it.
So let me end it with what I started with, and hopefully everyone else eho agrees will Do the Same....
"Yah, yeah, yeah, whatever.... you know it all,
Thankyou for your opinion, it will be taken into consideration. Bye now!"

As for what's wrong with our plan, Manuva, it's been stated by military brass (the guys who actually do know what's going on, not Rumsfeld) We're over-extended to the point where supply lines are very weak, we're not well-manned enough (got a 100,000 more troops on the way, including many tanks, so that's verified), and we grossly under-estimated some of Iraq's lesser armies. Battles in the south still rage on with a long ways to go yet. March to Baghdad indeed.
Oh well, we'll fix this in a month or so. |
Jesus christ.
All these so called "people in the know" are all f*****g retired Generals, who don't know the damn battleplan.
Norman Schwarzkopf himself stated this, yes the mastermind behind the first Gulf War, Stormin Norman himself, admits that he doesn't know shit to the clueless perked up guttercunt Katie Couric.
http://mfile.akamai.com/5020/wma/rushlimb.download.akamai.com/5020/clips/03/03/032603_5_kathynschwarzkopf.asx
As for supply lines, they've stated over and over that they're nothing to be worried about.

Gato, since when did the subject of sensitive insider info get mentioned here lol. Listen to the news and/or read, we're not keeping secret the problems we're having. These are all documented difficulties, and we even know how we're going about rectifying them.
Now when any armchair general comes along and says 'idiots, they're doing it all wrong,' you guys are pretty quick to jump down his throat, but that doesn't make him wrong.

arkonn, in the united states, people are free to do what they will.
Our government is elected by the people.
President bush was elected by the votes of the people who were elected to represent them
In other words...
nobody gives a flying shit about what you say or think, because all you're doing is b******g and whining on a message board, and for that, I give your opinion the credability for someone who refuses to do anything other than cry about shit without enough facts to support any change to the current situation

Doesn't make him right, either. I can't remember if it was you, but a little while back, somebody quoted Barry McCaffrey as pointing out flaws in the war plan. Barry McCaffrey was a Southern Command general (i.e. drug war...vert different theater) and was not very successful, even as the drug war goes. He was politically appointed by Clinton, looked down on by his peers, and now condescends on far superior generals.
Naturally there are difficulties (as this is war), and I think they will get worse as troops seige Baghdad, but difficulties <> clusterfuck.

Akronn please name any war in the whole of America's history that hasn't had any problems. ONE. There are so many possibilities in a war that you make up the best plan you can, then begin improvising to counter any problems that occur.

Khrath, I know this is a message board... I'm only here to discuss things that I find interesting (and occassionally boring lol). With the exception of posting a certain set of naked pics, what is said and done here changes nothing. Furthermore, nobody here has any real credibility concerning the war and nobody here should be treated like they do. Nobody.
I'm discussing my stance towards the war and defending my opinion when I can (but jesus there's too many who disagree lol). To me, this is interesting. Now notice I never insult anyone during these 'debates,' ever. Now why is that? Two reasons:
1.) I respect that other people have opinions. It's a shame that sometimes it's borrowed from others w/o much thought... but at least it's there.
2.) At the end of the day it just isn't worth p*****g anyone off here. This is for fun and entertainment, and very few converts are won anyways. I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything, just passing some time.

Haha, you would probably try to suffocate me
And to respond to your last couple of posts: I don't know who Barry McCaffrey is, so I'm not sure who quoted him and can't really comment on him. Wasn't me though.
As for the election, the debate over who really won will rage forever although it doesn't matter. It's pointless to speculate what Gore would've done after 9/11 imho, and kind of a waste to even sit back and think about it. We just don't know. I'm no fan of Gore either, you should know, and he's largely responsible for my not voting in 2002. I was equally apathetic towards both candidates.

I brought up McCaffrey because, though he was a 4-star general in washington, he was not really qualified to criticize the war effort. There was some news story on that, though, because he is high-ranking.
As for Gore, he rocks. We couldn't have this argument if it weren't for him.

Yeah, everyone says Gore would've sat back and done little to nothing with Iraq like Clinton did, but 9/11 changed things, you know?
Even though Iraq wasn't responsible for 9/11 or the anthrax scares after that, the US went on an anti-terrorist crusade and somehow Saddam got caught up in it. Is he a bad guy? Sure. Has he been terrorizing us? No. So is he any of our concern? Well, that's where we're split.
Bush seems to think Saddam is a problem, and his staff's past relationship with Saddam only muddies the issue. I gaurentee you there's more to this story than liberating a nation, but what else I'm just not sure. It would be interesting to see Gore in the middle of this instead... but I haven't a clue how he'd be reacting. Same old Gore, or uber-p****d?

As far as that goes, this operation has been a bigger clusterfuck than you all can imagine. We've already had a few top advisors resign and now Rumsfeld is under attack for micromanaging and 'not knowing what's he's doing.' (a senior planner's words, not mine).
---------------------
Clusterfuck how?
We are trying to preserve their airforce by only targetting air strips, we are not taking out the power, sewer and water facilities, we are not destroying equipment taken in surrender, and we are not destroying bridges and media centers.
We are trying to leave the country as intact as possible to lessen the burden placed upon the new Iraqi Govt that will emerge after this war.
To burn down the infrastructure would only further plunge that nation into chaos.
--------
Doesn't exactly sound like the war America expected, eh? Well maybe the tank divisions we're sending in will rectify the problem...
--------
Becuase the media and its band of retired correspondents predicted that they would all give up without a fight? That was a stupidity on their part.
The resistance we have encountered is pathetic. Much of his army has surrendered. Those that have not, lose the battles they choose to fight. NONE of their planes are flying at all. To do so would be suicide. Missles? 12. And he is not even targetting our forces with them. How many did they fire off last time?
Those Armored units (from Germany) are part of war plans made months ago. Hell, I knew I was going into the gulf OCT 02. 5 months in advance.
You are seeing follow on forces coming on line. They are not new forces ordered up because we are in deep shit and unable to control the battle.
The 4th ID was already in the theater and had to reroute because the deal with Turkey did not pan out. They should not be counted as A New Deployment of troops. They can come in and solidify the supply trains and commications lines trailed out behind the forward units.
-----------
It's all about a few guys wanting their day in the sun, but they're simply not qualified. Too bad people have to die so we can find this out.
-----------
No idea who you were talking about. I would say the people wanting thier "day in the sun" are all the know-it-alls mugging for a 10 minute spot on CNN.

Of course there is.
We're making the most societally (is that a word?) backwards part of the planet more American friendly. The middle east is one giant despot, and we're starting to clean house.
We're also taking the beginning steps to root out militant Islam or any other group, faction, religion or foreign state that poses a risk to our national security.
National Security isn't just waiting until a problem kicks you in the nuts to deal with it, it's recognizing what will potentially become a big problem for us down the road and nipping it in the bud, which is what we're doing in the middle east.
It's all about the big picture.

Your reaction is exactly the reason he said this, to try to cause fear. Just like he rules his country with fear. He was hoping your d*****s would act like you are.

Have you seen the photos/videos of brand spanking new bio/chem suits/masks with atropine kits to go along with them found down in Nasiriya I believe it was. Now deductive reasoning tells me that something is not right here. If ole Saddam Hussein doesn't have WMD then why 3k bio suits just sitting there to rot away? Dunno bout you, but makes me think otherwise.
WAIT, I know! It's a VAST, RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY!!!!!
