The site said it was done in binhex but that QT should have no problem opening it...it has a .mov extension...QT won't open it tho...

Any ideas?

It's a short video about narcoleptic dogs and people...I want to see if it is the same one I have seen a zillion times in school cause if it is, I want to use it in a presentation in a couple of weeks.

ok, here's what I know. not that it helps much.

The first file is either incomplete on their server or not a quicktime file or a messed up binhex file that's extension is named wrong. The most updated version of quicktime will not recognize it as such.

There are quicktime movies on that page that do work just fine.

Binhex is for encoding files. think of it as zipping something.

Odds are that that file is binhexed like you can see some of the other files are by their extension.

Winzip will decode bin hexed files.

I tried using winzip and it tries to decode it and sees a file named 0001.txt

I extracted that file and renamed it to 0001.mov and quicktime still wont play it.

It probably was or is a quicktime file because if you open up the file in wordpad some of the beginnning of the file says apple video

blah...thanks, hon...I will continue surfing to see if anyone else has the video...

If you guys have never seen it, it was made in the 70s and depicts narcoleptic Dobermans (who are actually predisposed to it) running around and playing and then all of a sudden...boom...they all fall down, fast asleep....

also, a guy who is just sitting in the living room with friends/family, and the next thing you know...boom...he is out cold, slides right off the couch onto the floor--and--if i remember correctly, the other people just keep talking as if nothing had happened..was worth a chuckle Smile

It was used in countless psych classes when I was in school...
