If that doesn't work try a system restore. Keep us updated.

From my experience you can fix the problem but it will take several hours to lock down. Since you are asking on this post I will assume that you wouldn't know how to do that. The easiest way to fix something like that is f-disking you hard drive if the system restore doesn't work which it probably won't with a problem like that.

I have no idea what is causing this problem, but on a relatively new laptop of mine, the keyboard randomly deactivates. Usually I'm in the middle of a game or something, so my only solution is to remove the battery for a hard restart. What could be causing this?

Shutting off the computer and restarting isn't enough to get it working again? If you need to pull out the battery then to me it sounds as though you have a fuse switching it off. These, at least with my experience, reset when the battery is removed. If that is the case then I would think that there is a fault in the keyboard that is creating a short circuit and triggering the fuse.

On other hand if you can't turn off the computer because the keyboard isnt working (you have tried hitting the power button? holding it down till it powers off?) and everything else is working fine, then I am not sure what the issue is.

Just a guess from limited information though.

The power button also fails to work, so I suppose it is the fuse problem. I'm guessing I'd have to send it in to solve it?

Also, why does this website seem to load so slowly? It freezes firefox half the time.

I don't have issues with the site loading slowly but if the computer is randomly freezing to the point where you need to remove the battery to get it to boot up then ..... yea.... you should get it checked out. Is it still under warranty? Last time I had a computer lock up due to a keyboard issue was when there was a defect in the ribbon connecting the keyboard to the laptop that was causing shorts and freezing the computer. Since there was a surge of power the comp would show a black screen and still be "running" it was very odd. After turning it off there was no way to turn it back on without first removing the battery. A new ribbon solved the problem.

I am not saying that is the problem but it could be a hardware issue, or even a software one. On the chance that it is hardware and you can't seem to find a software based reason then it would be wise to bring it in before it caused more damage. Does the screen go completely black when it locks up?

This is the only website that I know of that seems to stall or load slowly, maybe a FF 3.5 error, I'm not sure.

When it locks up, everything retains function except for the keyboard. So I can still do things with my mouse, but none of the buttons on my laptop function. I'll have to check if the warranty is still available, would be unfortunate if it isn't.

K, that sounds less to me like what I was describing earlier. Have you tried reloading your motherboard / chipset drivers?

I'm having these lag spikes frequently. I think its connected to the CPU somehow. Once I updated the GPU drivers I got these cursor lags\freezes then I updated the next and it happens more frequently. I thought Fusion would help it somehow and it made it go 20%-85% cpu spikes. I quickly restarted my computer and it was alright, its 20%-25% average speed and I'm just on Firefox and Java (Runescape). I tried to find out the CPU heat percentage in overdrive and it told me it couldn't find AMD CPU...I'm guessing thats the problem. Whats going on?!?!

Do you want to get on my computer and find out?

I was playing Fallout3 the other night and the game freezes up out of the blue, and I could hear an ominous clicking sound coming from my case. So I held down the power button, and cracked open the case, only to find it was my HD making the clicking noises. I went into checkdisk and it froze at 47%. Any ideas on a fix or is it just totally FUBAR?

oh yea... if you have a soundcard (not integrated sound) then there may be a spot to hook it up to the sound card.

What specs do you have? Also, when it crashes? All the time or in certain apps/games?
