What is slow? Make sure you put the ram in properly. If there are 4 slots and you have 2 sticks of ram sometimes (mostly from what ive seen) they need to be put into certain slots. Check the motherboard manual.

Aside from that..... If they are SATA harddrives make sure they have the same drive letters as before.

I don't remember what I did, the speakers don't work too, speaker pin cable from the case isn't connected to the motherboard correctly for sure. I'll check the ram again, there's only 2 sticks and only 2 spots, the other 2 spots is different, I think for ddr3 or something :S

hehe, there should be a connector on the motherboard for external audio ports (usually by the CPU, check the mobo diagram in the manual).

But how is it slower? Just in general? Takes forever to boot?

oh yea... if you have a soundcard (not integrated sound) then there may be a spot to hook it up to the sound card.

It used to take forever to boot and its slow when your on. I'm sure its the pins 100%, I know for a fact I didn't put it in the right spot.

nice... hahaha. Here is hoping you didn't knock off some jumpers that change how the mobo operates. Start with just the power switch and see where that takes you. Can you take pics and upload?

If the case connectors are labelles (HDLED, RESET, PWR, etc) make sure the labels all face the same way (unless they somehow managed to put one on backwards). Use the power switch as the base one, get that working first.

Paranoid way of hooking it all up:
    -Motherboard
    -drives (no cables yet)
    -Power Supply
    -CPU
-CPU fan (connect power to mobo if that is how its powered)
    -ram
    -Connect powersupply to motherboard
-connect power button to mother board.
-Turn on computer (should see the fan on cpu run, and you will get the no graphics found beeps)
    -Turn off computer.
-Plug case fans in (mobo if that is how they are powered)
-Put in graphics card, hook up a monitor. (make sure fan is getting proper power, some cards require a hookup to the PSU)
-Turn on again (fans should all be running and you will see the computer boot till it says "NO BOOT DEVICE FOUND" or similar)
-Connect drives to the motherboard and then connect the PSU to them.
-Turn on computer, should recognize all drives
    -Turn off computer
-Connect the rest of the case items, such as external USB and reset buttons, leds etc.
    -Put in remaining cards
-Test one last time (power, reset, hd lights, external ports)
    -Close up the computer.
The order can be changed for preference/cablegami/etc.

I think it works faster now, I reconnected the pins and one ram wasn't connected right, I'm always good at that but wow I missed that part.

Yea, the ram was most likely the whole slowdown problem. Silly you! There is a reason why RAM and Gfx cards are the best bang for the buck.

Fusion For Gaming Beta

Designed to help optimize your PC for smoother, more responsive game play in the latest PC games with the touch of a button, the AMD Fusion for Gaming utility helps achieve the performance edge previously only available to highly technical enthusiasts. It works by temporarily shutting down background processes and intensifying processor performance with AMD Boost. That means you can keep all the features of Microsoft® Windows Vista® ready for when you need them, but turn them off when you are ready to get down to serious business – gaming.1

Made with simplicity in mind, we still let you behind the curtains and into the advanced interface to change how the utility works. You can customize with user selectable profiles which optimizes your PC for gaming. Also, you can easily build your own profile and choose exactly what you want disabled for a leaner footprint. Want to squeeze every bit of performance from your system? Engage our most advanced acceleration technologies such as Auto-Tuning and Hard Drive Acceleration.2 Push the limits for how lean and mean you can make your Gaming PC.

At AMD we are dedicated to bringing together the people, ideas and technologies that help ignite the PC gaming experience. Solutions like AMD GAME! PCs and the AMD Fusion for Gaming utility make it simpler to enjoy the latest games and take your experience to a new level. All systems go!

General

* This utility is being released as a beta version and, as such, may have additional bugs or errors that are not outlined in this Errata guide which result in system instability, data corruption or incorrect operation of the software or computer system in which it is implemented.
* We are looking into these issues, and new releases will be available on this site
* AMD Fusion for Gaming will run on any PC with an AMD processor, but offers additional tuning for such systems with AMD chipsets and graphics

Errata

* The system may hang when running profiles utilizing AMD OverDrive cpu tuning on Windows Vista 64-bit and XP 64-bit operating systems, requiring a reboot
* The system may hang when engaging a profile from the simple mode (button) interface, if the mouse click is held and the mouse is moved off of the application, on Windows XP systems, requiring a reboot
* The system may hang when a profile is disengaging if the user is moving and/or clicking the mouse, requiring a reboot
* It may not be possible to create custom profile with ATI Catalyst Auto-Tune GPU tuning enabled on Windows XP 64-bit systems
* In Windows XP 64-bit and Vista 64-bit operating systems, there may be a long delay waiting for a profile to engage
* When AMD Fusion for Gaming is disengaged, the system may not be fully restored to its previous state, requiring a reboot
* Valve’s Steam online gaming platform will be shut down when engaging a profile

This is the 1st I've heard about it... so I read all their articles >.<
Looks like what youre tlakign about is just a small bit of the idea behind Fusion. It has more to do with hardware and software combos to increase performance, AMD Fusion for Gaming is a small application of the concept.

If you already have your comp settings maxed out then it looks like Fusion for Gaming won't do much more then close background processes. I assume that most people who try to crank the most out of games will have already maxed thrit system and will close those programs themselves. This makes it easier to do I guess. I like the fact that it can change hardware settings so you can dumb down the comp outside of gaming. To me that looks like less power consumption and increased hardware life when compared to a system maxed out 100% of the time.

I like the Fusion concept, looks like the console and mac ideas of making hardware all nice and fast and compatible with eachother to increase performance and stability.

Do I need this and do I really need to overclock? The only games I'll be playing would be Counter strike based games like source and such, COD4, Crysis when I buy that game, apparently really good. Not sure what other games lol. Tomorrow can't wait Very Happy

Try out unreal tournament 3 (really cheap used, like $9 here), Fallout 3 which comes out on the 28th looks like it will be great. Gears of war. Bioshock. Lots of people like The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Spore is also a lot of fun.

Give the Fusion thing a try, I'm interested in seeing how it works out for you. I would only use it to close processes as opposed to the overclocking. If you do become more comfortable with overclocking then do it at your own discretion. Just know that it voids most (if not all) warranties.

What?! Dang I don't want my warranties gone =\

What do I get out of overclocking for myself? Isn't this setup good enough for games like these?

Anyways I played Unreal Tournament, fun and really good at it but not into those kind of games. Something like Counter Strike or COD4.

Wow...thanks for the heads up about the warranties and overclocking. Not taking those risks now lol.

Your comp is good enough that you should not need to overclock for new games. Overclocking just squeezes more out of your components, kind of like getting that last bit of water out of a damp cloth by twisting it harder. Sometimes you get a fair amount of water, sometimes not much at all... and sometimes you rip the cloth and realise that twisting it voids the $1600 cloth's warranty.

Uhhhhhh......... did you pull the battery out also? You might need to open up the case and clean the inside components... If the electrical breakers flipped on the motherboard then you will need to take the battery out and wait 30 or so seconds before putting it back in to reset them. Wow.... uh... spilt coco... left it in the hot sun... heh.... I don't know man. I would open it up and clean it all with rubbing alcohol and q tips and then hope to god nothing was permanently damaged.

Don't just do that though unless you know what you're doing and are comfortable doing it. I would suggest bring it into a repair shop at this point and get a quote...

There's a problem when installing torrented XP versions, they always create a version to choose.

Looks something like this but all the same.

http://www.nsaneblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/windowsbootmanager.jpg

I tried installed EasyBCD but doesn't work. Any help? I'll probably be doing this every so often when reformatting. Doing one soon anyways.
