I've been to England, Turkey, and Lebanon...had a great experience in all three. Turkey was pretty interesting, the architecture of the buildings is pretty crazy, and the old mosques were pretty sweet. I didn't stay long in England so I didn't get to see much, was actually just passing through to go to Lebanon to see my family.

Lebanon is pretty nice and in the south the landscape is beautiful, but it's a terribley poor country and it shows, the effects of the civil war and such has left it's dent in Beruit and some cities surrounding. Other than that I enjoyed it very much. Everyone was really nice, got to play basketball with the locals, see the sites in Beruit and tried some of the nightlife on for size. I never knew arabs listened to 50 cent and Snoop Dogg, crazy shiet niggas! I guess they can sport it since they are sand negros..

American music is everywhere. It's an excellent example in support of my claim that America is the greatest superpower to ever grace the plant.

Off the continent I've been to:

Holland, France, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, and Hawaii

All the places were great and I would love to go back but I definately would not live anywhere else then in the States.

I'm going to study for a semester in either Australia, New Zealand, or Hong Kong in 2005.

ive been to Spain and France- which i loved, and from my experience, as long as you attempt to speak french and are courteous then french people are pretty nice. I spent three weeks in Poland.. in Warsaw, Krakow and Gdansk- it was really an amazing place. Also the British Virgin Islands, Aruba, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, St. John, and Grand Cayman in the Caribbean over the past several years. I think (really hope) we might be going to Italy and Greece next spring break, and possibly (hopefully) Australia with my dad over Thanksgiving to visit his family. I know it doesnt count, but i lived in Canada for a couple years when i was younger, its almost identical to the US except more doctors (since the insurance isnt insane), and its cleaner. I would love to go everywhere in the world, and for those of you who have been to Africa im particularly jealous Smile. (though right now its really dangerous Sad)

Sort of gives a new perspective on things, and it's always good for a laugh when you get into an argument about something silly like American vs Foreign cars, and you can see the poor, ignorant saps who've never left the US clinging onto their GM biases, swearing up and down that everything American is as perfect as it comes, and basically bleeding red, white, and blue. Well boys, until you've seen the rest of the world you don't really know what you're missing out on.. or how wrong you are.

while im not quite as well travelled, i completely agree with this statement. I've essentially grown up travelling off of the Continent every year since i was eleven or twelve (though we've had years that it wasn't financially possible), and i think it has shaped and broadened my perspective of people around the world a lot better than someone who has never had the opportunity (or in some cases, the desire) to travel.

Uhh...ooookay. Was I talking to you? Did I imply that America isn't great in any way? What are you trying to prove? And to whom? Do you think I care?

You know...now that I think about it, there IS one thing I don't get...it's the reason why you have to keep proving yourself to be an arrogant, stuck up piece of shit. I really don't understand it..can you explain?

I have some sort of weird respect for Snoop Dogg...not for 50 cent. But that's besides the point. There was a thread about this before and everyone criticized me for claiming that Rome did not compare to the US in terms of it's imperial influence. But as good was Rome was at assimilating cultures, they never transferred so many elements of their culture so far across the globe. This is my point. Even groups that generally "hate" America continue to eat up American culture. We don't need to take over countries to be imperialistic. It just comes naturally.

Of course... which is why it's mixed pride.. people whom you don't like are often your ambassadors to the world. One shouldn't wonder why people think Americans are so f****d up, if you think about the things they see coming from this country.

considering the only other super power ever was russia its not really a hard contest to win.

I believe he means modern day. He mentioned Rome at some point.. but part of what makes the American language and America culture so ubiquitous is technology.... which Rome didn't have. It's not a fair comparison otherwise.

Our technology also makes us the most formidable military power in the history of the world, too. It's a fair comparison. We achieved our empire largely through technological might. No other nation has been able to approach it ever.

Actually my reference was to things they see, not necessarily buy. American CULTURE is what's being shown to them. We aren't talking about some CD some Arab teenager buys as much as I'm talking about things like Britney Speare's 20 hour wedding. She is your ambassador to the world which is why I'm saying what I did. Sometimes the people who personify and represent your country's culture to the world are the people who are probably the worst possible examples of it.

But no one gets headlines from being normal, right?

Sorry. My mistake. When you quoted me and wrote "I had a feeling you'd post something like that", I assumed you were referring to me. My bad.

What? I was referring to you....What I meant by that post was that while I was typing my original post about arabs listening to American music, I had a feeling you'd post something about America being great and use the fact that arabs listen to American music as an example ..and you did, and you directed it towards me and my post.

You imply that I don't understand what America is. "You obviously still don't get it" Get what dude? I know American music is everywhere, I was making a joke about arabs (you know those crazy dudes that are related to terrorists?) listening to American music. I was being facetious. You know what jokes are right? "crazy shiet niggas!"

Try not using anything I say to suit your purpose for argument in the future please. Especially if I'm not even talking to you. Thanks.

You're a complete moron. By "complete moron", I mean that there is no intelligence in you whatsoever. Not one iota of it...None. Not only that, but you still post 150 words expressing your complete devoidness of intelligence. That is my lesson of enlightenment for you today.

A little p****d? Calm down shit head, people make mistakes and misinterperate things all the time...it's ok...you're human.

You wish. I'm merely educating you. I admit I have failed.

Our technology also makes us the most formidable military power in the history of the world, too. It's a fair comparison. We achieved our empire largely through technological might. No other nation has been able to approach it ever.

It's not a fair comparison at all. A good portion of the world wasn't even known to the Romans. It was a very, very different world to them. They had no means to travel great distances quickly, no means to communicate over long distances efficiently, and no way to keep dibs on what was going on in other parts of the Empire effectively. So, given what they had, I think they did a bang up job of holding up the Empire for as long as they did.

Now.. how does that compare with how the US currently holds sway over the planet? Oh that's right.. it doesn't.

The current influence the US has right now over the planet is unmistakable. It's the best, granted. But to say no one else has ever matched it.. How can you qualify that when there's no competition?

There was never a need for you to educate me, so yes, in that way you have failed.
