Has anyone played X-Men Legends?? (The 1st one)

If so, PLEASE help, lol...

I am stuck on the stupidest thing you could be stuck on. I feel like such a retard for not being able to figure this out....

In the first mission after you meet all the X-Men and tour the Mansion (the snowy level), there are these blue X's that you are supposed to be able to use one of your teammate's mutant powers to interact somehow with the level.

Well after looking online when I couldn't figure out how to make these X points work, I found nothing explaining in detail how to use the points. All they say at gamefaqs is to use Ice Man's mutant power to make an Ice Bridge so your team can get accross the gap. Well the game says that you can use Mutant Powers by holding down R2 and hitting X. I've done this like a billion f*****g times now and the only thing that happens is Ice Man does his normal mutant power (shoots ice). I've made sure I was standing on the X while doing this and STILL nothing happens.

Can someone please tell me what the f**k I am doing wrong? This was such a fun game for the 1st 2 levels and now I can't even progress anymore.

I'm sure I'm probably making some stupid mistake that will make me feel even more retarded after I finally get past this damn level.

Anyone remember how I'm supposed to make these X Points work?
