Halo 3 movie

Does anyone know what's going on with the Halo 3 movie? Last time I checked, Peter Jackson had dropped off the production crew and instead filmed the movie District 9 (which was an awesome movie. I reccomend it.) Now Steven Spielberg has supposedly picked up on it. I don't know what's going on with it. Any info would be great. 
Nah I think has been canceled till further notice. Instead they made Halo ODST and the new halo anime.
