Looks pretty damn good to me. The textures look photo-realistic. In the first shot with the squad firing down into the aliens, look closely at the walls. The light coming through the holes in the roof looks nice too. In the outdoor shot, look at the brick road..
It actually looks like layers of clothing on the characters, instead textures with layered clothing drawn on. The facial expressions don't look too bad either. (although the first woman one looks like a photoshop smudge gone bad) The polygons in actual environments look pretty sad. Look at the machine to the right of the picture with the guy and girl, pretty weak. Rails and the other little environment things look like shit too. I hope they work on that before it's released.. when it gets released..

half life 2 has been awaited for more than 3 years. original hl was created in 97', making thisa release 6 years later, not 4.
the question most hl users are asking is whether the new HL will be nearly as easy to manipulate (#1 reason there are so many mods for HL ie CS, TFC, DOD) if not, people may not be interested in buying/DLing it.
hl lost shitloads of money when CD burners and other pirating type programs became available.
and since the CD-key database only restricts online users to any room besides that using the same CD key, most people didn't mind not being able to use the same room as someone else, because the chances of them running into eachother were slim. (of course they would both be kicked immediately)
HL2 should have been TF2, but valve was sitting on its thumbs making money (removing thumbs as for passage of money up the anal cavity then quickly replacing thumb) up the ass, and didn't care until they actually started to loose money in 2002. now the new HL should have been much better than what you see, but since they were all braindead for 4 years, they couldn't produce anything fast enough to save valve, so they threw out this BS.
this is all information provided by another forum.

The glory of HL 2 isnt the graphics, but the incredible AI that they set up.
Imagine running through the city, with a zombie chasing you, you run into a room and close the door, and wait. The zombie then proceeds to smash the window, stick his hand through the glass, turn the door knob and open the door. It's unscripted and is completely based off the AI code that Valve programmed.
The graphics are nice, but the gameplay is whats going to make HL2 rock. The AI is supposed to be the best ever programmed into a game.

Now that I could believe. For its time, the original HL story and AI were quite good. Actually, once the graphics get to a certain point, I'd rather have good content than better graphics that I have to stare at pixel by pixel to appreciate.

They said in PC Gamer that one of their top priorities is being able to mod it easily so that modders can get what they want done in a good amount of time.
One little bonus thing they have is being able to play through the map/level with an orange screen for where textured objects go; that way they can test how the map feels and edit the major terrain before texturing it and having to re-do it all

the original HL is one of my favorite games too. the story was great and once you started playing, you didn't want to quit. if they can make another game with the same great AI, and great story line, with somewhat updated graphics, i'd buy it.

Is TF the one with all the little class guys? Like the infiltrator thing that can feign death? And those turret things?
I hated that game with a passion * clenches fist *
