If I had to pick one new product to hit the market recently that i'd 100% endorse, it is hdtv's.

I bought a 32" the other day, like almost the biggest non projection or lcd one you can buy, and almost masturbated to the picture quality when I stuck a dvd in for the first time.

You can sit an old analog tube of the same size side by side with this, and you can't NOT notice the huge picture difference.

Even the regular broadcast tv channels like fox look better on it, and they aren't digital.....it's realy weird watching them though, because the quality is dumbed down I suppose because tv sets didnt support the quality, so why send out a signal that isnt supported......it reminds me of watching a divx rip on my computer at home, or maybe playing a game in 640x480 ressolution when you can go higher.

Biggest problem so far that I see, is going to be the fact that SVCD's arent going to be high enough quality anymore, so i'll have to buy a dvd burner.

hdtv, get one, or you suck

Yep. I don't think he has been made aware of "Microwaves" which feature the similar "set it and forget it" technology that he claims to have pioneered.

They ever show anything good on television anymore? I haven't checked in a few years, was waiting for them to put at least one good show on before I started watching again.

Well, that goes without saying, Compusmack.

Just wondering if they ever bothered to start airing good shows, that's all. The Oxygen Channel **** lady is the only weekly program I'd even think of watching.

True HDTV's are a complete waste of money to buy since the tuners for it are overpriced and hardly anyone is providing HDTV signals. I think you probably purchased an HDTV compatible but why would you want to buy an HDTV compatible TV that will be obsolete in a couple of years when the real HDTV's will come down in price?

Anyway, f**k HDTV. It's all about TIVO baby!

Actually what you're jerking off to is your new tv having 720 or even 1024 lines in it compared to the old 480. You bought a TV that can be made in High Def with a 500 dollar chip. There are very few stations HD friendly and by the time they aren't uncommon plasma screens will have dropped down in price enough to be worth it.

You didn't get ripped off or anything, it's just that your picture quality has nothing to do with your tv being HDTV.

I've had a 119 inch front-projection HDTV home theater, now, for about a year. It is total ownage. I don't actually watch tv on it because the bulb is $500 and doesn't last forever. I only use it for my dvd's and video games.

Yeah we sell those at our store. People get mighty p****d when they find out the bulbs cost more than many of our desktop computers.

Khrath Didnt say his TV channels looked breath taking ,unbelieveable and downright a must , he said: Even the regular broadcast tv channels like fox look better on it

What he did say was great was:
like almost the biggest non projection or lcd one you can buy, and almost masturbated to the picture quality when I stuck a dvd in for the first time.

Razz

I am also in the market for a new TV , I have been for some time, but I havent quite figured it out yet just what I want.

My old TV is a 27" Fisher that was like 500$ 11 years ago.
Its crap now.

Im pretty sure im going with a 36" cause my living room max distance from the TV is like 16 ft. so the formula is (max distance from tv in inches ) x (5 or 7) = (ideal TV size)

Im pretty sure im gonna go with a normal 36" widescreen.

I dont want to deal with the "Dead pixles" problems with the plasma screens, and the size of my room doesnt require a Projection tv.

and the b***h is plasma TV warrentys dont replace a TV unless theres more then 7 dead pixles in a close area to eachother. thats 7 to many for me, last thing i want to be looking at on my $3000+ TV is a Black Dot here and there.

one thing that really bothers me also is people with $3000 45" or bigger projection TVs in there 12' livingroom. and All i see is Pixles cause its to big.

I think to myself, damn, they could of got a top of the line regular TV in a 32" or 36" for $1000 cheaper that would look 100x better then this lightbright looking screen.

lol well, People are kooky sometimes.

I just Hope he didnt Buy a SONY Wink

My hdtv front-projection actually looks remarkably good, despite being 119". I have to get within about 2-3 feet to actually see any pixels, and even then it's not severe. I haven't had a dead-pixel problem, but I doubt I would even be able to notice if a few were out here and there, considering I have 1,049,088 pixels (1366x768) in all. I forget exactly how far my sofa is from the screen, but it's not too far because I positioned it to provide an optimal viewing angle...roughly the same as sitting in the center of a movie theater.

Added bonus...The screen retracts into the ceiling via a wall switch, so it takes no floorspace.

Those plasma TVs are so beautiful it makes me want to cry. Then I look at the price tag and I really do cry. There's a 50" Pioneer at best buy that I would kill to hang up in my living room, price tag is $10,999.99 though, so I just go down there stare at it once in a while. Can't see buying a TV that cost more than my current car :p.

I have DSS which has HD channels, and an off air receiver which can get about 6 HD channels here in detroit.
