Ok, I just got a brand spankin new 80GB HDD today and i was all excited... anyways, I go to install it and it keeps coming up as saying I only have a 8GB HDD so I'm like WTF! I swing by the shop where I bought it and they tell me I need the newest bios for my Motherboard, so I get some bios and flash the ROM... still no good. So I go to the Seagate website and there is some utility to help install HDD's and work around common problems... no good either, still reading it as 8GB. Not sure what the hell to do! I found some website that lists the problem but it seems old and not much help... this is the website:

Any help would be immensly appreciated... I'm freakin out trying to get this shit to work!
Specs:
AthlonXP 2000+
ECS K7S5A Motherboard
512MB PC133 RAM
WinXP Pro
GeForce2
Soundblaster Live 5.1

If you have an athlon 2000, the motherboard should be more than capable of utilizing that hdd.
Try FDISK and repartition it.

I went to the Seagate website and they had a utility for stuff like this... it seems to be a fairly common problem. Anyways, after hours on end of fekkin with bios and shit I finally got the damn thing working... reinstalling a bunch of stuff and then gonna hook up my old HDD as a slave to steal a bunch of files off it before I format it. So alas... I now have a total of 90GB of HDD space
