I must say this game is now even more teh own then it was on the XBOX.
It runs ok on my system.
AMD Athlon 1700+
640mb DDR RAM
Gforce 4 MX420 64mb ram made by PNY (not much but gets the job done)
I can run it with graphics on HIGH and it runs smoothly unless I get into Heavy combat.
On Medium it stays smooth no matter what I do.
It's available on the FTP if you did not know. It's the HALO Gold version it is not the one that comes out thursday.
Just giving a little review because I am bored.

Huh?
I thought the one coming out on Wed. (the 30th) was the version that just went Gold. I thought there was only one version for the PC coming out? Could you make more sense please?

I confirmed it that it is a gold version it was a leaked one that got out in the open.
It works well for me!
Its nice tho you can put anything you want for the CD key.
EDIT: by versions i mean that there is a pregold version for DL as well that is a bit more buggy.

a game goes gold after it's been beta tested and shit.. basically the gold version of halo is the game that is shipping in the box. from what i know, about game publishing, there may be a few minior changes, but when the product goes gold, that's pretty much the end.

basically any first person shooter is going to be better on PC than it is on a consol, no question about it the mouse is so much easier than the analog stick for aiming.

Tried redownloading, about to try the rar files now. Anyone know what my problem could be?

ok, unzipping the rar file worked and I got alcohol 120. Now could someone explain what I've got to do with all of these files? I'm retarded.

use WinRAR to extract the first 001 file. It will then extract into the bin and cue file in whatever directory you choose. Then run daemon tools or whatever program to mount the image (the cue file) and then install

you lost me at extract into the bin file part.
I'm completely and totally clueless as to how to do any of that stuff. Except the extract part.

When you extract the first file of the 50 you have when you downloaded halo, you are going to open up winRAR, go to file, open archive, click on the first file which ends in 001. Then there will be 2 files that are listed in winrar, a .bin and .cue file, Extract those into a folder that you will remember. Let winrar do its extracting, when its completed, open up whatever CD image mounter program you're using and then mount the image using the .cue file

well it was a great game, and for those that don't own Xbox's they get to give the game a shot, and even for those who have played it on Xbox like myself, would rather play it on computer, more simple controls.

Something is wrong with your sys Rasil...
Even my laptop it runs pretty good. 1024x768 medium detail.
Centrino 1.6GHz
512MB RAM
Geforce 440 go video w/ 64mb.
If it runs on mine, and not on yours, something else is going on with your sys.

oh yea.. rasil, this is probably stating the obvious, but if it's really running exactly like dog shit, this is worth mentioning:
in the video options, it allows you to set the refresh rate on your monitor and also the FPS in game. Set the refresh rate at whatever your monitor can handle and set the FPS option at no v-sync. It says choose v-sync for the best picture, but it limits FPS to achieve a little more stable picture. Almost everyone without a 9800pro will prefer v-sync off and an extra 30 fps at the cost of a horizontal tear here or there.
Other than that, in game, turn off the shadows and reflective surfaces effects... and set everything else to low.
In windows, right click desktop then choose Properties > Settings > Advanced > Ti4600 > Performance & Quality Settings. Once there, slide the top bar all the way to the left for max. performance and slide the middle bar 1 slot right so that it reads Antialiasing - Off.
With all that done, I can play at 1024x768 on a ti4400 with decent framerates. It's not silky smooth like BF1942, but it works.
thanks paden and goraz for the help by the way, really enjoying the single player so far.

I don't get it. I've tried burning this file with Nero, Fireburner, and Alcohol 120%, All of them give me blank but full CD's. WTF.

Eh, vid card is actually a 5600FX, not a 4600 but who cares.
I've done some research and the game is just dogshit, as said above, on my card. Even guys on top end systems have a hard time running at top performance. I've basically gimped the performance requirments to where I could draw them with an etchasketch about as fast and the game is playable right now. I've never EVER had any slowdowns with any other FPS or any other game, for that matter, with this system. It's just the code, mostly.
And when I say dogshit, I say not silk.. So a bit of a dramatization but i'm use to flawless performance unless I'm raiding Pofire with another guild in there.
Thanks for the tips, everyone.
