SIMPLE QUESTION: which is better, halo 3 or gears of war!? i onli have halo 3 atm which i think is awesome. My bro sed gears is boring so i didnt bother buying. But then i looked up that it was best selling game last year or year be4. 4million sold.

I still don't understand why people love these games. Halo isn't that great. I am not sure about Gear of War though. I have not played it.

Gears FTW. The graphics are far superior, you can especially notice the difference if you have an HDTV setup.

This question/opinion can go both ways..
If you merely pit Halo 3 against Gears then, in my OWN opinion Gears, would completely decimate Halo 3 in every category; Graphics, Storyline, Ending and Enviorment.
However, if you pit the Halo SERIES against Gears, well, then you have a completely different story. The halo series has completely changed the market on these war based games. If it werent for Halo setting the bar then we might not have some of the amazing games we have today, well let's say they wouldn't be AS amazing as they are now.
In the end, I love the Halo storyline and everything about it. However, Gears of War is the new "halo", the sequel is due out this year, I think, and if the storyline and play is anything like the first, then it will be very interesting to see how many, at that point, prefer Halo(1/2/3) over the Gears games.

halo 3 has a far better ranked matchamking system, but gears of war is such a good game even so... I am really looking forward to gears 2

Halo 3: Weak story line in my op. Halo hands down was the best.
H3 is the same as all of them in the fact you kill shite and do things that arent even close to what you do in combat.
Gears: Solid storyline for some hard to follow. basic shooter but the top part of this game is the ghraphics and the style of game
H3 style: for young kids. cartoon, fantisy
Gears: more mature croud. very dark and grude like.

I'm not a huge fan of either, but I would take Gears by a small margin. The campaign was better than that of Halo.

I think it depends who you play with. You in a college dorm with 3 other people who want to play? Halo 3 is a complete blast with a group of 4. Gears is limited to 2 at a time. Also, halo 3 is a lot more newb friendly. You can jump in and get kills and have fun right away. Gears is harder to master, you will get slaughtered first time.
That said tho, I felt gears had a stronger solo and coop story mode, whereas halo 3 had better online overall.

I actually like COD4 better than both, but if I had to choose, I definitely have more fun playing Halo. Not to say gears is not a great game, but I always die of laughter after a halo on xbox live.

gears, imo, halo 3 is pretty much just another halo 2, only HD, didn't find it as impressive as the other 2 halos, gears added a lot more to gaming than halo 3 has.

hes right grapics are good on hdtv, but.... i tihnk halo3 is a way better game.... u may get gears but i promise u in a month or 2 at the most u will think it was a waste

this guy is exactly right........i bought gears a few weeks ago and i completed it on all difficulties and im just bored now....even online play is boring cuz u cant respawn during rounds and its incredibly hard when you play against people who have 2 years experience + LAG
