I am a player versus player type of player since I started playing online games. This is the only option that exists for me and nothing else is there for me. I tried something else as well, but it was never like the player versus player thing at all. Guild Wars - How much actual skill is there in PvP?

You will not be able to see the difference when you look at this game player versus player and some other game that is an online game of course. So this story that I have heard as well that you don’t need skill to play player versus player has nothing to do with reality. This was invented by some jealous guy who doesn’t know the first thing about playing online games and now he is trying to make this game look bad and we all know that this game is one of the best in the game industry. You need all the skills that you can get for something like this.

guildwars isnt very pvp oriented. there are many options in which you can arrange your 8-skill skill bar, but thats about all there is. i guess mesmer involves player skills more than anything else because of spell interrupts.

Believe me. There is definitely skill involved. Take a player like Chop Chop Grr Panda (notable for multiple GvG championships, which you can view after 15 minutes of match) and a new player with the same build. If there is no skill, both should be equal, right? From the matches I have seen Chop Chop and his guild play, wrong. Know when to "spike", which involves multiple characters to utilize their build at an enemy simultaneously. Also reading your opponents moves is key when it comes to when to use your build. If you see a monk using a skill every so often, of the overall health of the team is low, you can guess that the monks are low on MP.
I have played for a while and have now quit. Nothing wrong with the game, just bored of MMORPGs at the moment. Be patient, though. It took me a long time before I could win a match = )

IMO i think that Guild Wars takes more skill than a lot of other games because all of the top gear has the same base stats. Plus there isnt really higher levels being better because lvling isnt really a big deal in GW. So I believe that it takes much more just because the timing has to be so quick, compared to other games where all you really need to be good is have great gear.
