Hi, guys. I'm sort of new (well, not entirely) to guild wars, and I'm told by some other guys that I need to play my necro / monk as a hex support character for their next session … could someone give me some useful advice, re. skill selection and stuff like that? Thanks!

The best advice for you would be to browse through the build listings over at gw.gamewikis.org, you'll find something for any occasion. Specifically for your situation, hex support with a N/Mo, they suggest this - Curses 10 + 2, Blood Magic 11 + 3, Healing Prayers 10, Soul Reaping 1 + 1.
And then - Life Siphon, Shadow of Fear, Parasitic Bond, Faintheartedness, Offering of Blood, Heal Party, Extinguish, and Resurrection Signet.
