You have to buy LoY. Whether you buy it before it is released or after doesn't matter.
That is a VERY nice feature. I'm probably one of the few that sees more value in LoY than PoP.
i bet there is going to be alot of deguilding when it first comes out

I imagine if the chars are still saved it will find the tag.
When I clicked this link I thought it would be some mass guildinvite tool that Clan of Shadows would use to expand their roster.

It is weird how LoY is looking to be the most 'useful' expansion in terms of what features players have always wanted. My only guess is that they've been working on all this nice stuff for EQ2 and decided to throw some of it in the old one to tide us over for awhile.
